Class of 2024 Senior Pictures
Class of 2024 can you believe you are just a few weeks away from being seniors? Time to start thinking about all of the senior things including senior photos! This year’s senior’s photos will be taken by CADY studios. You must have your portrait taken by CADY to be included in the senior section of the yearbook. Please go to CADY studio to register now! You can register and sign up for a session HERE.
There are several photo options you can choose, but to be in the yearbook you just need the yearbook pose. The SIMPLE SESSION includes the formal shot, Cap and Gown photos, and one extra ‘scene.’ You should have started receiving emails about scheduling an appointment. You can go to one of their studios OR schedule an appointment here at the high school during a Road Show. The closest studio, The Atlanta Studio, located at 2030 Powers Ferry Rd., Suite 520 Atlanta, Georgia 30339 (near the Braves Stadium) is accepting appointments now. It is advised that you schedule an appointment sooner rather than later so that you can get retakes if you wish.
For the YEARBOOK POSE (the picture in the yearbook) you have your choice of the traditional outfit provided by CADY - the tux or drape. If you do not wish to be photographed in the traditional attire you may wear a SOLID BLACK OUTFIT of your choosing -sweater, turtleneck, button down, dress, or your own black suit with black tie.
Cady will be taking appointments online for the Decatur High Road Shoot days 90 days before the actual date. These dates include: Saturday 8/19 and Saturday 10/14. If you do not get an appointment on one of these days you will have to go to the studio to get your picture taken. To ensure that you get to choose your photo please take your picture by 10/31. You can decide what photo you want as long as you choose BEFORE 11/10/2023.
You have until October 31, either at school or at a studio, to get your photo taken for inclusion in the 2022-2024 yearbook. Please go to cady.com/schedule in order to schedule your appointment as soon as possible.

DHS and CSD Communication Survey
Hi DHS Families,
Please complete this survey to help us best plan for and implement communication structures that will keep our DHS families informed of the important happenings in our school community. All schools will be conducting a similar survey.
The results of these surveys will be shared with other school and district leaders to help inform areas of strength and growth throughout the district.
This survey should take you approximately 10 minutes to complete, and will provide us with valuable information about our communication platforms, frequency, and content. Thank you for your support.
SGA COLLECTION DRIVE
What: SGA is hosting a drive collecting necessities that can be put together into bags for the unhoused population in Atlanta
When: Monday, April 24 - Friday, May 19
Why: Homelessness is a significant issue in our community. Atlanta is estimated to have an unhoused population of over 3,200. By creating these bags, we will have something to give to people on the streets, keeping them a little bit warmer and less hungry for the night.
How to participate: Sign up to donate items by clicking on the SignUp Genius link and filling out a slot. Then drop your items off in the DHS bus loop (outside for weekend/after school drop-offs) or LLC lobby (area in between library and cafeteria) between April 24 and May 19!

DHS Baseball Season Comes to an End
Congratulations to our baseball team. Their exciting season came to an end on Saturday in the Elite Eight of the GHSA State Playoffs. The Bulldogs matched up against a challenging Centennial team. Decatur came back from down 1-4 in the final inning to tie Game 1 but gave up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 7th. After jumping ahead early in Game 2, the Bulldogs were unable to hold on to secure the needed victory.
The Bulldogs finished the season undefeated in Region 4 5A, Region Champions, and with an overall record or 24-9. Great job to our student-athletes who pridefully represented DHS and the Decatur Community. Thank you to Coach Radcliff and his staff for leading our young men this season and teaching important lessons on and off the baseball field!
Softball Summer Camp Opportunities
Our DHS Softball program will host a number of camps this summer. These camps are a great way for our young Bulldogs to develop their skills, make new friends, and have some fun. Click the link below for more information and reach out to Coach Williams with any questions.
Summer Lacrosse Opportunities
If your student is interested in playing lacrosse this summer, our Decatur Recreation Department has opportunities for middle and high school students. This is a great time to hone your skills and/or start to learn about the game! See this graphic below for more information.
DHS Cross Country Interest Meeting
All students interested in participating in Cross Country for DHS in the Fall should attend an Interest Meeting on May 23. The meeting will be held in the DHS PAC Theater after school at 4 pm. Contact Coach Souther at msouther@csdecatur.net.
DHS Track & Field to Send Athletes to State Meet in Nearly Every Event!!
DHS sent athletes to the sectional track meet on 5/6 in nearly every event -- only shot put and pole vault were not included in our list of entries! In EVERY event entered, Decatur athletes qualified to go on to the state meet by placing in the top 8 of their event! Many athletes ran, jumped, or threw personal records and far exceeded predictions. Click the link below for a list of events and the athletes who will compete in the GHSA State Meet in Columbus on May 11, 12, and 13. Congratulations and good luck, Bulldogs!!

Extra Mile Awards
Students: Do you know a teacher or CSD employee who has gone “the extra mile” this year? Nominate them for the CSD Extra Mile Award! The Extra Mile Award is an annual award that allows students to show appreciation for the teachers or staff they feel go above and beyond what is expected of them.
Students (not parents) at any grade level can write an essay describing how their teacher (or staff member) goes the extra mile (parents can help younger children write the essay). The essays should be detailed and describe how the employee goes above and beyond.
Click here to submit a nomination. The deadline is May 31.
These awards will be presented at the CSD Opening Day Celebration in July.
