More Great Fiction!
Dr. Seuss (AR1.9, pts 0.5)
a brand new Dr. Seuss adventure! Found in his archives this story features the brother and sister from the Cat in the Hat trying to make a decision in a pet store.
Muon Van (AR 2.4, pts 0.5)
A circular story that tells the story of Vietnamese fisherman and his family. The story zooms in first to the house, then to the kitchen, until finally it focuses on a tiny brown cricket in painting a tiny picture of the fisherman himself at sea dreaming of home during a scary storm. A beautiful and quiet story that pairs nicely with the nonfiction Families Around the World (also new).
Joe McGee; Jennifer Ward
Two great reads for Halloween. The first tells the story of Reginald the zombie who just wants PB&J not brains. He finally convinces the other zombies how good PB&J can be and saves the town. The second book is a Halloween take on the traditional song.
Barney Saltzberg (AR 1.7, pts 0.5)
Three siblings are given blank books by their mother and each creates his or her own story. The books are bound together and placed inside a bigger book (inside this book) so they can be shared. A great way to inspire students to write their own stories and share with friends, family and classmates.
Kelly DiPucchio
What happens when Bacon gets famous? He ignores his friends and family as fame goes to his head. How will the story pan out for bacon? Silly, fun story about being a good friend.
New Series by Stan Kirby
Captain Awesome is pretty awesome. This is a transitional chapter book series with plenty of illustrations, similar in tone and length to Captain Underpants. We have five to start and I will be ordering more.
