McFee Elementary
Welcome Back to School
The second and final phase of campus renovations at McFee Elementary began on May 27, 2023 and I'm happy to report the campus is ready to welcome your children. The construction crew has been working twelve-hour days, seven days a week, to ensure our campus is ready to welcome students back for Meet The Teacher on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
Speaking of Meet the Teacher, your child's homeroom teacher will contact you to introduce themselves beginning the afternoon, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, and Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Meet the Teacher will take place on August 18, 2022. Students whose Last Names are A-L will meet their teachers from 3:30 to 4:30 PM, and students whose last names begin with M-Z will meet their teachers from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Parents are welcome to bring student supplies. However, I ask you to label all supplies with your child's first and last name. There will be paperwork for you to complete during your visit, so please bring a pen and the names and phone numbers of persons you designate as emergency contacts.
Our new student hours for the 2022-2023 school year are 8:15 AM to 3:40 PM. Doors will open to admit students at 7:55 AM. Please do not drop your child(ren) off before 7:55 AM; leaving students unattended without adult supervision is dangerous. Instruction concludes at 3:40 PM, and students are dismissed at 3:50 PM.
Breakfast/Lunch
At McFee, all students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch. When your child enters McFee they will head to the cafeteria and pick up a Grab-N-Go breakfast before heading to class. Breakfast is served only from 7:55 AM to 8:15 AM, so please make arrangements to get your students to school on time so they can take advantage of breakfast. Every Teacher will set aside a time for the class to eat a snack. All parents are encouraged to pack a snack for their child to eat during the snack. Be sure to put your child's name on the item. Lunch times for Prek thru 5th grade varies. Your child's Teacher will provide lunch times during Meet the Teacher.
ID BADGES
All McFee students are required to have two IDs; one id will be on their backpack, and the other will be on a lanyard that students must wear every day. The ID badge is used to get lunch, check out books at the library, and reward Dojo points to students for following directions. If your son/daughter loses his/her ID, he/she must pay to replace it. The cost to replace a student ID badge is $5.00.
Immunization Records
Students must be up to date on their shot records. If you receive a call or letter from our nurse requesting updated records, please bring them to Meet the Teacher so we can bring your bring your records current. Students with past due shot records will not be allowed to attend school; it's the law.
Important Information for Parents...
- Morning Arrival - Student arrival begins at 7:55 AM. Parents who arrive after 8:15 AM or after must park and escort their child to the front office and sign them in. NO EXCEPTIONS!
- Car Riders - Not every child can be dropped off in front of the door, so we ask that you have your child ready to exit the vehicle as soon as the car line stops. Students should have their backpacks on and be prepared to leave the car when instructed by staff.
- Parents arriving after 8:15 will scan the QR code on the front door to sign their child in before they are buzzed onto campus.
- School ends at 3:40 PM.
- Changes in transportation - Send a note to your child's teacher if you are making a temporary change in transportation. Transportation change requests must be written and contain the parent's signature and phone number. For safety reasons, we will not accept transportation changes via phone calls, emails, or text messages; we will not honor changes after 3:00 PM.
- Early Pick-up- Only Individuals listed on the Late Arrival/Early Dismissal cards will be allowed to pick up students. All staff members go home to their families at 4:00 PM. If you cannot pick up your child at 3:40 PM, you must notify your emergency contact designated by you on the emergency contact to pick up your son/daughter.
