On the Trail - Mustang Families
April 25-30
A Community with Integrity, Respect and Confidence
This past week was a bit difficult as many know but we again had students rise to the occasion and focus on what we are here to do as the amazing place that this is.
Once again we have been shown that our Community will stand together and keep working hard to show the world how great MTHS is and what a wonderful set of students, families and staff we have here at the Trail.
Each day, I am proud to be with you all and see the Mustang staff and students come to MT, with smiling faces, to meet our mission for student success so that students can not only reach their goals but they can go on and become productive citizens as positive influences in the world within our community and beyond. These are leaders for the future and many are already leading the way now.
It is truly a special place and we love our Mustangs!
We continue to keep safety at the forefront in order to ensure that our students and staff and families can continue on this trail to success. We thank all of you for staying positive and remembering to report any concerns - "If you see something or know something, say something" and keep working hard in the classroom.
Only a short time left in this school year - let's do this!
We are a COMMUNITY with INTEGRITY, RESPECT and CONFIDENCE and we will finish strong as ONE TRAIL!
Go Mustangs!

Bell Schedule 2022-23
As is stated in the EGUSD communications: SB 328 requires that middle schools cannot start earlier than 8:00 a.m. and high schools no earlier than 8:30 a.m.
MTHS has a new schedule next year to meet the SB 328 requirements AND we have developed a schedule to implement a "Trail Time" period in the school day so that students will have dedicated time once per week per period in order to do collaborative study groups, retakes, intervention, peer tutoring and more.
We will be developing time to teach our students about this period at the start of the 2022-23 school year and staff will be trained on specific tools and strategies to help reach all students during this time.
Specific details within the school day will be release in the summer newsletter in June/July.
The start times and end times for your planning are here:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - regular days - 8:30 am - 3:39pm
Thursday - late start - 9:50am - 3:39pm
There of course will be some special schedules for reverse minimum days, PSAT day, grad rehearsal, final schedules, rallies and assemblies but those will be shared in the newsletter in summer.
Important Items for Mustang Success
Conflict Mediation - refer someone else or self refer
Struggling students? Reporting incidents or concerns
- refer students in "drama" or in "need" to conflict mediation
- seek help by connecting with counselors or admin as needed
Students can self refer to conflict mediation as well. See the form above for referrals.
Remind students of our Anonymous Incident Reporting system on our website. It allows for anonymous reporting of bullying, self harm, violence, harassment and more. If the person allows us, we can also communicate two way to get additional details while they still remain anonymous if they choose.

Staff and Student Health and Safety
As of March 12th:
Stay home if you are ill or experiencing symptoms and be sure to notify Lara/Cheryl for next steps.
Otherwise:
- masks are strongly recommended but not required indoors and in large groups
- continue frequent handwashing and sanitizing
- COVID exposure notifications will continue
- see the new COVID Decision Making Tree in the recent communication from EGUSD in the March 8th communication
Please read Lara's email from last week about other updates.
Thank you for continuing to follow protocols for safety and health of everyone.
WELLNESS and Self-Care and Support
We want everyone to be well so here are some reminders of resources available in the picture below.
Feelings Wheel
Health and Safety FIRST - masks on and no food deliveries allowed
Thank you to all who have continued to respect our safety rules/policies.
No Food Deliveries -
As sent at the beginning of the year, all staff members have been instructed to not have potlucks due to COVID safety protocols AND we will NOT accept food deliveries of any kind at the front office nor through gates, etc.
In addition: Our school does not allow deliveries of food items from third party vendors such as Grub Hub, DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc. This is to ensure the safety of our staff and students. We cannot have strangers coming to the school gates/main office to make transactions with students. These items will be refused.
When a student takes a delivery through the gates, the items will be taken for pick up after school and discarded if not picked up.
Remember, all students receive free lunch at MT this year. There is no need for these deliveries so please respect the policy.
Masks on and other protocols continue:
Daily protocols:
- Masks strongly recommended indoors
- Do not come to school if you have symptoms - staff contact admin and students/families contact the school for admin to then follow protocols directed by nurses in contact with the county and health authorities
- Recommended wear masks in large groups outdoors - our lunch and passing periods for example
- Help remind students of the protocols as you pass by and in your classrooms/offices, etc.
