Mustang Minute Principal Update
December 1, 2020
Dear Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving break. It's hard to believe that we are beginning the month of December and almost done with the first semester! One of the goals I had when starting this position was to continue to increase communication between school and home. As the year has continued on I don't feel I've done the best job with that and for that I apologize. In order to try to increase that communication, I plan to start putting a newsletter with important information together a couple of times a month to share with our families. As you receive these newsletters, please don't hesitate to email or call the school with any additional questions. Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Buessing
Student-Led Conferences
A HUGE thank you to our PTO and all of the families who donated to help with the meals at conferences. It was all greatly appreciated by our staff!!!
Mask protocols
For those students who continue to choose to have their masks down or wear them inappropriately, we are going to have to put additional consequences in place. It's not something I want to do, but we are coming upon a critical time as we approach flu season and with cases on the rise and we need to do all we can to keep our students in school and do so safely. If students have received a reminder and they still have their mask down, they will be asked to go to the office for a designated time rather than stay in the classroom. The reason is that if they play an important role in keeping everyone healthy/safe in that class and if they can't do that, they can't be in that classroom.
Likewise, if students have their masks down on the bus, they will be given a warning. After that warning if it continues to happen, they will be unable to ride the bus for a day. Again, each student plays an important role in keeping all healthy/safe and by choosing to not wear the mask correctly they are jeopardizing the health/safety of those around them.
I know this may sound harsh, and that's not my intent. However, my intent is to keep our kids in school in person and we need everyone to do their part to make that happen!
Not quite! It shouldn't be worn on your chin!
Not there yet! We shouldn't see your nose!
Yes - this is great! It covers both your mouth AND your nose!
Pick-up and After school Changes
Additionally, if you have an after school change for your student, please let the office know in addition to sending it directly to your student. Per school policy, students should not be on their cell phones during class time and may miss the message. This has happened on more than one occasion and it has led to worry when a student is not where they are supposed to be when they don't get the message.
Thank you for your help in these matters!
Please remind your student to bring a water bottle to school. It's important that our students stay hydrated and only our bottle filling stations are currently in operation. We have many people coming to ask for a cup each day and we are running low on that supply. Thank you for your help!
