HIJH Instrumental Music Information
A Message from the Directors...
Thank you for considering 6th grade instrumental music! This is a wonderful opportunity for your child, as there is nothing else in the WORLD quite like the study of a musical instrument. Learning to play a musical instrument and belonging to a performing ensemble opens up a new world of friendship and opportunity.
Hamilton Southeastern Intermediate School is able to offer 6th graders the opportunity to study a musical instrument during the regular school day. This enables students to continue their participation in other activities, like sports, church youth groups, clubs, etc. Home practice will be important, but if students use their time wisely, there is easily time for everything.
We encourage you to spend time talking to your child about the benefits of studying an instrument. Discipline, teamwork and dedication to excellence are all skills that students will gain through their musical study.
Now is the time to begin a musical journey that will last a lifetime...and the possibilities are endless!

Instrument Testing Day!
Friday, May 6th, 7:45am
Hamilton Southeastern Junior HIgh LGI Room
All 5th Grade Students will have the opportunity to test instruments on
Friday, May 6th. They will accompany their homeroom teacher down to the LGI room at some point during the school day and work with the music directors and other professional musicians to select an instrument that is right for them.
Your child should come home with a BLUE INSTRUMENT TESTING SHEET. In preparation for the day, please work with your student to fill out the form and choose their top three instrument choices. They should then return that form as soon as possible to their homeroom teacher.
Please note, all students will test on instruments unless parents choose to opt out. Please see the bottom of the sheet if you are wanting to opt your child out of testing.
Music Parent Meeting
Wednesday, May 11th, 7pm
12278 Cyntheanne Road
Representatives from Paige’s Music will be available to provide information regarding instrument rental or purchase options. This will allow parents to secure an instrument and supplies for their child on the night of the meeting, saving a trip to the actual music store.
Finally, directors will be available to meet parents and to answer any questions that families might have about HIJH Instrumental Music. We look forward to seeing you there!
In the meantime, please feel free to contact a director with any questions you may have.
