Seminar on Loan Forgiveness and Donorschose.com
Business Partner Horace Mann will be her on the work day to educate us about Student Loan Forgiveness for teachers and Donorschose.org. (If you are not familiar with this site, it matches those who want to donate to schools with teachers.)
The seminar will be this Thursday, March 10 at 2:30 in our media center. It is optional but will be very helpful for those who still have student loans or those who want items for their classrooms.Professional Development

Salutatorian Benjamin Greene Dugger, Dr. Shannon Kersey, Valedictorian Joshua Seides
Alpharetta High School is pleased to announce Joshua Seides as Valedictorian for the Class of 2016. Joshua’s transcript is beyond impressive with a cumulative numeric average of 104.979, the inclusion of fifteen Advanced Placement courses, and an almost perfect SAT score of 2370!
In addition to Joshua’s wonderful accomplishments in the classroom, he has also exceled in extra-curricular activities. Josh has served as Treasurer, Vice-President, and Executive Council member of the Future Business Leaders of America organization. Other leadership roles include President of the Beta Club, Founder and President of the National Technical Honor Society/Technical Student Association, and Secretary of the National English Honor Society. Josh has participated in MIT’s Launch Entrepreneurship Program and the Duke TIP program. He has published literary writing, played competitive tennis, and worked with Technoacademy all while maintaining his excellent grades! Joshua excels in all of his endeavors. He is a leader, humanitarian, athlete, and entrepreneur!
Alpharetta High School is pleased to announce Benjamin Greene Dugger as Salutatorian for the Class of 2016. Ben is brilliant, capable and a gifted student who is respected and admired by all who know him. His highly competitive program of study along with his dedication and commitment have allowed Ben to reach this honor.
Along with his attention to advanced, AP and Honors courses, Ben is Co-President of the Alpharetta High School FBLA, Vice President of the National Spanish
Honor Society, Member of the AHS Charter Governance Council as well as a member of the Alpharetta High School Golf Team. He is a leader in and out of school. Ben is Senior Patrol Leader in Boy Scouts, OA Troop Representative and Patrol Leader. Making contributions through scouting as well as his ability to make time to excel in golf make Ben Dugger a highly motivated young man with an excellent future ahead of him.

FREE BOOKS
The media center is getting face lift soon. This Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday please come down and bring your bags and boxes to get as many books as you like for your classroom. We have deleted over 3,000 non-fiction books. There are so many incredible books in so many different areas.
This weed-out process was so tough for us, so we are hoping you will come get as many books as you like to use in your rooms for many years to come.

AHS Presents - Legally Blonde

"OMG you guys!" Alpharetta High School’s Theatre will come to life with the spring musical LEGALLY BLONDE, The Musical on March 17th. This multiple Tony and Olivier Award-winning, critically acclaimed musical is the all-singing, all-dancing romantic comedy about knowing who you are and showing what you've got! Performances run through Sunday, March 20th.
AlphaTheatre’s production of LEGALLY BLONDE, The Musical is directed by Sarah Stoffle, with musical director Michelle Austin and backed by the talented Alpharetta Orchestra directed by Sheldon Fisher.
Tickets to LEGALLY BLONDE, The Musical, will run at the Alpharetta Theatre March 17th and 18th at 7PM, March 19th at 2:00 and 7:00 PM, and March 20th at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased in advance at our ticket website www.seatyourself.biz/alphaproductions or contact Nan Bodeep at nan@bodeep.com. High Museum of Art - Teacher Appreciation Day
Saturday, March 19, 2016 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Free Museum admission for educators, plus one guest
Teachers, school administrators, and community educators are invited to the Museum's special exhibitions and permanent collection for free!
Inspired by the current exhibition Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion, Teacher Appreciation Day: STEAM Edition at the High Museum of Art will be filled with drop-in stations exploring hand-made and 3-D printing techniques, as well as guided tours of the exhibition and collection. Educators plus one guest will be able to experience STEAM programming at the Museum, where science, math, and art come together in this interdisciplinary approach to learning.
No registration required. Educators and one guest receive free admission with school I.D. or verification of homeschool/non-traditional school status.
Alpharetta K-9 5K Foot Chase Event
On March 12, 2016 at 8AM, the Alpharetta K-9 Unit will be hosting the 1st annual Alpharetta K-9 Unit 5K Foot Chase. This 5K race will be held at the Alpharetta Community Center and is a certified 5K event and Peach Tree qualifier. Come join Alpharetta K-9 officers with their police dogs and run in the event with your own dog! There will be awards for 14 age groups, dog adoptions, police cars, fire trucks, SWAT vehicles, K-9 demonstrations, and many more family fun events! Alpharetta Musicians to Perform in National Band, Orchestra Festival
The high school's band and orchestra team will participate in the March 25 event at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

"Start spreading the news" — Alpharetta High School musicians are heading to New York City!
On Friday, March 25th, the AHS Bands and Orchestras will be performing at Carnegie Hall -- every musician's dream!
Only 16 bands and orchestras from across the country have been selected to play in the National Band and Orchestra Festival in NYC, and Alpharetta High School has four of those slots! We are very proud of the Band and Orchestra, and the great leadership of Band Directors, Mike Walsh and Ira Jenkins, and Orchestra Director, Sheldon Fisher.
Meeting the AHS mission – Nationally recognized Band and Orchestra - Way to go!!
