Course Description:
Across New York State, achievement gaps exist for English Language Learners (ELLs) which result in lower graduation rates and increased dropout rates. Secondary school staff must be armed with information and tools to support this vulnerable population, and also examine the practices within their own school communities.
This online, asynchronous course is for educators of English Language Learners (ELLs) in grades 6-12. 12 PD Hours (CTLE Credit)

- Registration, identification, placement & ENL scheduling;
- Subgroups of ELL/MLLs;
- Community & Family Resources;
- Assessments for ELLs;
- NYS Seal of Biliteracy & LOTE credit for ELLs;
- Graduation Requirements for ELLs;
- NYSED's Graduation Rate Improvement & Dropout Prevention Planning Tool
