Parent Surveys
Yarbrough parents are asked to help us continue with the great things you love and improve the things that could be better by taking the annual Title I survey. The link can be found in several places: on the Yarbrough home page under the video, on the parent Facebook page, and embedded below.
Several school improvements were made based on parent comments last year, so please know we take your suggestions to heart. We also appreciate positive comments that help us know which school policies, events, etc. you would like to see us continue.
As you complete the survey, please let us know by returning the flyer sent home or writing a note with your child's first and last name along with his/her homeroom teacher. Your child will receive a bag tag, and the class in each grade that has the highest percentage of returned flyers/notes will win a popsicle party.

The Counseling Connection with Mrs. Walsh
Our Guidance lessons during April will help prepare our students for our standardized testing. Out test dates will begin on April 4th and will run through April 28th. The 3rd and 4th graders will take the Reading and Math tests. The 5th graders will take the Reading, Math, and Science tests. Classroom teachers will remind you of their class’s test dates.
Parents please make sure your children get adequate sleep before the test dates, as well as, eat a healthy breakfast and avoid high sugary foods. Research shows students perform better if they eat before a test. Keep a positive atmosphere and help resolve any conflicts that may arise so your children are focused on the test. Encourage your children to do their best and let them know you are interested in the tests. Remind students they “get to” take the test, not “have to” take the test to show their teacher how much they know.
Students should BE ON TIME and wear comfortable clothing; this might mean getting up a little earlier to avoid rushing. Talk to your children about their feelings concerning the test and reassure them their performance on the test is not a condition for your love. Stress to your children that you love them for who they are and just want them to do their best!

Habit 6: Synergize
Key Phrase: Together Is Better
What this habit looks like in action: I value other people’s strengths and learn from them. I get along well with others, even people who are different than me. I work well in groups. I seek out other people’s ideas to solve problems because I know that by teaming with others we can create better solutions than anyone of us can alone. I am humble.
Habit 7: Sharpen The Saw
Key Phrase: Balance Feels Best
What this habit looks like in action: I take care of my body by eating right, exercising and getting sleep. I spend time with family and friends. I learn in lots of ways and lots of places, not just at school. I find meaningful ways to help others.
Manner Focus: Chew with your mouth closed and use proper utensils when eating.
