1st Day of Spring Term and Student Schedules

Accessing Classes on Tuesday

Students: On Tuesday, be sure to check your school email account and your Canvas homepage on Tuesday morning for links to Zoom calls and course tiles.

Student Schedules

Our team has been working hard since December to rebuild the master schedule of courses for the Spring term based on student requests, model changes, and graduation requirements for students. Course schedules are now viewable in the Student/Parent Portal.

It is important to note that the master schedule for the Spring term was completely rebuilt, and it is possible that some students will not get into the same courses that they were originally scheduled into when the last master schedule was built in August.

Make sure to look in your Aeries portal for your updated schedule and refer to the Schedule Change webpage on the MVHS Counseling website for specific information and deadlines. Please note that the only way to submit a schedule change is by completing your Model and Counselor specific schedule change form located on the webpage.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Meal Distribution on Wednesdays

After the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from the community serving meals once a week, Child Nutrition Services have decided to transition meal service to Wednesdays only. Meal service will remain at the same time at all locations except for Foothill Oak Elementary. Foothill Oak will now serve meals from 11-1 on Wednesday.

Virtual "Tour" and Information Series for Prospective Students and Families

MVHS will host a series of four Zoom Webinars for prospective students and families. During these webinars, families will learn key information about MVHS and hear from a panel of students regarding everything that MVHS has to offer from the student lens.

Webinars will take place from 3:30-4:30 on the following dates:

  • January 26, 2021
  • February 9, 2021
  • February 16, 2021

The link for the Webinar on Tuesday can be found here.

Reporting COVID-19 Cases and Exposure

Although all students are taking classes virtually, it is important that families report COVID-19 positive cases and/or exposures to the school. There are a number of supplemental programs that are taking place after school hours, events like the PSAT exam may become more frequent, and when it is time to return to in-person learning, we need to ensure we are aware of anyone under quarantine orders at the time. Reports should be made to our Health Office staff, and all reports are confidential.

Yearbooks Available for Purchase

Just a reminder that MVHS 2020-2021 yearbooks are still on sale. The current price is $100 through 1/29/21 (increases to $110 after that). See the attached flyer for additional details and purchasing information.

Common Scholarship Application for Seniors

The San Diego Foundation Common Scholarship Application gives San Diego students access to more than 100 scholarships that comprise our Community Scholarship Program by filling out just one application. Seniors, make sure you start your application; don’t hesitate to reach out for any questions! Mr. Faraimo (eleasalofaraimo@vistausd.org).

Reminder for Seniors

Seniors -- If you have not yet done so, be sure to complete the FAFSA or Dream Act application. These programs allow eligible students to apply for financial aid (grants, work-study, and loans) to pay for college or career school.

Our goal is for 100% of the Class of 2021 to complete a FAFSA or Dream Act application so that all students know what access they have to financial support for their post-secondary aspirations.
