Hi All,
Great week here at BWE. SO busy! I felt like I was running from room to room to try to catch a glimpse of all the amazing learning happening!
I had personal conversations with many of you and was excited to learn of your steps towards our 2020 vision...My favorite convo started with this...
"I've never tried this before...but...."
YES! SUCCESS!
Try it! Take a risk! I can't wait to see all of your big ideas in action!
Have a wonderful weekend!

BWLS Teacher Assessment Survey
As a district, we believe that the purpose of testing is to drive our instruction. Unfortunately, the amount of testing being mandated by the State of Ohio has increased. This has caused us to want to do an assessment inventory. In this process we will examine all district-level given tests and make decisions about which tests are high quality and necessary for our students to take and which tests can be modified or eliminated. A committee of teachers and administrators will complete the assessment inventory over the next several months and make decisions about which tests to give as a district moving forward.
This survey is an important part of our assessment inventory. Your responses will help shape recommendations for the future of the district’s testing program. Please know that your responses to this survey are confidential. Thank you for taking the time to give your input!

"Something Old":
BRAG TAGS- We will do our next brag tag celebration on Friday, February 12th. Keep this document close, and add your kiddos that will need brag tags that day.
This week I went around the district with the fourth grade team and the first grade team for showcase week! We saw great things happening and had a chance to look for new ideas. Thank you for allowing me to come with you! We had some great conversations as well!
"Something New":
Leader in Me Lessons- Click here to sign up a lesson for Habit 5! I added more slots!
Upcoming PD:
Are you interested in applying for the LIO cohort next? Do you have questions about LIO? Stop by the think tank on February 9th @ 7:45, I will help clear up any misconceptions you may have. We can also brainstorm ideas for your proposal. The fourth grade team has volunteered to come as well to answer any questions you may have!
During the staff meeting in February, the other instructional facilitators and myself will be doing a PD on 21st century learning. We will be breaking down the 4 C’s, creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking.
Shout out: Great job on the Oreo Cafe this week Fourth Grade! Those kids were so engaged in their conversations. It was so great to listen to their passions!
Resources of the week: nonfiction
I have been looking for nonfiction resources for you to incorporate into your classroom. Below are some great sites I have found.
readworks.org--I used to be obsessed with this site when I taught 2nd grade! It is a great resource for nonfiction passages. It is great for a quick comprehension check as well as for test taking strategies. It also has great lessons to go along with read alouds. It even has Kindergarten activities! Did I mention it is FREE?
The following websites are great for incorporating current events into your classroom:
