Amelia is so upbeat and full of smiles, that she puts everyone she encounters into a good mood.
Strategies to use:
This is a circular cause-and-effect story - it begins and ends with Amelia's smile. Readers can compare it to If you give a mouse a cookie indicating how they are similar and how they are different. Which of the two stories do readers like best? Encourage readers to find other circular cause-and-effect stories to share.
Readers can take photos of classmates with and without a smile. Discuss how the smile changes how the person looks.
Events in this book happen all over the world. Readers can learn more about each of the locations in the story, find it on a map, discover interesting facts etc.
