LMS Tiger Talk
August 19, 2022
Principal's Message
We just wrapped up our first week of school here at LMS and what a week it was! It's been great welcoming back our students and they did an AWESOME job this week. With a busy week full of team-building, navigating new schedules and classes, meeting teachers and other students, and MAP testing, our kids did a great job and we're super proud of them. We've established a solid foundation, both academically and socially, this week for a successful 22-23 school year. Thank you for making it happen from the home front! We know what a lift it is to start the school year and we are thankful to you for sharing your awesome kiddos with us.
Thanks to all the parents and families who made it into our Family Information Night on Thursday. We had a great turnout and we hope you enjoyed connecting with your child's teachers and hearing about all the great things your student has to look forward to this year. If you have any feedback on the evening or any other feedback considering the first week of school (good, bad, or other), I'd love to hear from you. Please send me an email or give me a call at the school, and we'll find some time to connect. And if you weren't able to attend Family Information Night, we have you covered: please look for information coming from your teachers that will have a recorded version of what they presented last night.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I bet we're going to have some tired Tigers ready for some extra rest. Hopefully, the morning routines are getting easier every day. Let us know if you need anything and we look forward to week two!
Take care and Go Tigers!

LMS Principal
Staggered Start Days
It was great to welcome our students with a staggered start on Monday and Tuesday. A nice slower-paced start provided time for extra care of our students and lots of fun, community building, and introductions between students and staff.
Football Kicks Off Season
Our football teams took on Nagel Blue at home this week in a friendly scrimmage and open up their official season next week. Go Tigers!
Team Time
Wednesday marked the first day with all students in attendance and students spent the morning with their new academic teams. This provided students additional time to get to know their new teammates and teachers and start the school year off right!

Car Riders - Drop Off/Pick-Up Information
For those students who are being dropped off or picked up at school, we want to remind everyone of the pickup and drop-off process for the LIS/LMS campus. While our front parking lot is still under construction for some needed updates and repairs, you will follow the same process to start the year that has been in place in years past (as illustrated below):
- Pull in the front main entrance off of Lebanon Rd.
- Follow the cones (lines coming soon) in the picture below before dropping off or picking up your student(s) at the Main Entrance. You will loop behind the back parking lot. This allows for more cars to get off Lebanon Rd. during busy times.
- Your child should not be getting out of the car until you enter the drop-off area.
Main Entrance doors will be open for drop-off in the AM beginning at 7:05 AM. Drop-off and pick times have typically ranged between 12-15 minutes during peak traffic, but with new start times this year as well as more students expected to ride the bus in the morning, we will need to see how this timing looks to start the year. Additionally, inclement weather typically results in longer times needed for drop-off as more students are being brought to school and things move a little slower.
Drivers, please also be aware that we will have students walking and riding their bikes to school each day. Please be careful and keep an eye out for students crossing the street and driveway around our campus. You can see the marked crosswalk locations in the picture below where students and pedestrians should be crossing.
If everyone follows the process accordingly, we know it to be the most efficient and safe process possible given the volume and our campus layout. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in following the established process for our car riders. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Lunch at LMS
The federal pandemic-related program that provided universal free meals to school-age children has expired. School lunch and breakfast will no longer be free for everyone in the 2022-2023 school year. All students will be required to enter their PIN number (their student ID) for their purchased or free/reduced lunches. You can find your student’s PIN (student ID) number at TigerParent.me.
Families who qualify for free or reduced lunch can complete the application at PaySchools Central. Completing the application now will allow your student to start the year with free or reduced lunch if they qualify.
Students can purchase breakfast for $2.00 and lunch for $3.50. Extra milk can be purchased for $0.60. To avoid having your child handle cash at the register, you can load funds to your child’s lunch account on the PaySchools Central website. You may also add funds to their account by sending in a check with the student's name and PIN (student ID) in the memo. Please note that when a student does not have sufficient funds in their account or cash to pay for lunch and reaches a charge balance of -$10.00 (approximately 3 meals), a letter will be generated by the Nutrition Office and mailed to the parents along with automated phone message notifying them and will continue until the balance is reconciled. Nutrition Services is happy to accept donations to pay off lunch debt for students who owe meal charges.
Menus will be on the Loveland City School website along with nutritional information and common food allergies in early August. Menu items are subject to change due to availability and food shortages.
For more information, call Nutrition Services at 774-6201.
School Supplies and Fees
School fees for all LMS students are $100 for the 22-23 school year. This includes a general school fee of $50 and a technology fee of $50. Fees may be paid online using PaySchoolsCentral.com or by check made out to “Loveland City Schools" in the LMS office on 8/8 and 8/9. Please include your child's first and last name on the memo line of the check.
Prompt payment of your student's fees is greatly appreciated.
