MIT December Newsletter 2020
Message from Principal Fanourgiakis December 2020
Dear McKinley Families,
Hope everyone is safe and healthy this is MIT's Newsletter for the month of December. I would like to thank all families that participated in parent-teacher conferences we all know that your time is valuable and we thank you for participating and contributing to your child's education. I am going to focus the rest of my opening message on addressing our County and state health updates of the last two weeks in the context of our return to school plan.
First, our county has moved into the purple tier which means more restriction to opening schools and most other businesses. Here is a quick guide to what that means from our County office of education: San Mateo County Office of education Purple Tier.
Second, if you have been watching the news our governor has issued a "Stay at Home Order" for the counties where the Intensive Care Rate tops 15%. Here is our Counties response to the regional Stay at Home Order.
What does this all mean for MIT?
According to our county and our district, all schools will continue moving forward with our plans to have in-person instruction because our students need it. All RCSD schools have been instructed to develop a plan to return to school following county/state and district guidelines. These plans will be turned into the district by the end of December for the district and then county approval.
Where is MIT at?
At this point, MIT has 10 students receiving live instruction on-site with 10 more joining a HUB and starting December 7th. Based on parent feedback, instructional considerations, and staffing MIT will maintain its distance learning schedule but provide POD''s / HUB's for families interested after January 19th. (Parent meeting where this was explained) Families that indicated they are interested in joining a POD / HUB will be contacted individually the first week of January 5ht-8th. If you have not completed the survey please do as we are making classes based on parent interest. If you have not completed the survey please do.
Please reach out to the office if you have any questions on the above. 650 482-2410
