Great Things are Happening at ~ In Person Orientations!
Head of School
Team,
Thanks again for "showing up" and "showing out" for our face to face parent orientation sessions. It was great seeing the smiles on the faces of our returning families, and calming the anxiety on the faces of our new families.
Instructional Coaches
We will be scheduling interviews this week for those of you who have expressed interest. Be on the look out for a communication from the ADM team.
Satisfied
The results of this year's K12 Teacher Culture & Satisfaction survey have been released. Out of all of the participating K12 schools, I'm proud to announce that LAVCA ranked among the schools with the Highest teacher satisfaction. Reasons Why Satisfied with Teaching at School include:
- Like the flexibility/convenience of working from home
- Administration/teachers support each other/work together as a team
- Administrators listen to teacher feedback and utilize feedback to make change/improvements
- High quality curriculum
- Less time spent disciplining children/dealing with disruptive behavior and more time teaching
- More opportunities to interact with students
- Making a difference in students' lives

K-5 Instruction
Dear teachers,
The information on the assessments from the state have been released and we are working with Eric to let you see the progress we are making with that transition. During the orts we are trying to have you open them up and explore with us. K-2 the state has only set up the 3-eoc grade levels so we will be using the same system as before with Study Island however instead of doing a pre and post it will only be a pretest.
K-2 ELA and Math
In study Island for Math and Reading just like last year however we will only be doing the post test at the end of each quarter instead of pre and post. Please have the Diagnostic (1 quarter post test from last year) ready to go in study island by Tuesday, August 8.
3-5 ELA and Math
Diagnostic test will be in the DRC portal and students will be emailed logins and passwords by the first day of school. Students will be sent out QRG and videos on how to download the portal (thanks again Mrs. Buuck). All returning students should have the download so please make sure the new students are setup and go over the download in Math and ELA class orts.
3-5 History and Science
You will need to create your diagnostic using Office 365 forms. You may use the history tasks provided on the DOE website, questions from your Study Island pretest quarter 1 last year converted to Office 365s, or those paper practice test (3and 4 only). Please have the diagnostic in forms and submitted to Dana and I by Tuesday, August 8.

FAST Team
A couple of reminders: All students, new and returning, have to have a Connection Call within 10 days of their official start dates. Please make sure you use the Connection Call Template when noting the calls.
You can create a note for all students who attend the August 9th and August 14th Homeroom Strong Start rallies.
If you are not able to reach a student after the rallies, 3 call attempts (5 days), please send Liz an email and create a FAST referral.
Here is a link to the Connection Call template.
The purpose of the Connection Call is that:
Please make sure that ALL homeroom, course, and grade-band assemblies/orientations have the word ORIENTATION in the title. This is very important for our metrics.
All new families will be required to attend a virtual orientation for more training on navigating the system and school requirements. Those orientations will start August 7th and continue throughout the enrollment period. We will also have FAST Live Help at 8-9 and 12-1 every day beginning August 10th.
