Reading Foundations
Reading Foundations is a 5 day intensive reading course. Participates will focus on reading instruction in the 5 key areas of reading. To receive credit, participants must attend all 5 days of training and submit all required assignments. No partial credit will be given for this workshop. ( June 13, 14, 19, July 12 and 13, 2017).

Introduces the 6 "signposts" that alert readers to significant moments in a work of literature and encourages them to read closely. This helps create attentive readers who look closely at a text, interpret it responsibly and rigorously make up their mind about purported truths.

Canvas for Middle School Teachers
*Bring your laptop. This session will assist middle school teachers in setting up Canvas courses so they are ready to begin teaching with them in August. Topics of the session will include: cross-listing courses, setting up assignments with other features to work with Grade Pass-Back in PowerSchool Gradebook, editing Course Cards nicknames and images on the account dashboard for convenience, and pulling in integrated apps for a variety of assignment and submission types, and how to use a generic Canvas course for emergency and substitute lesson plans. Participants will be most able to maximize their time in this session it they come prepared with some of their Canvas course content prepared.
