Fundraiser Pick-Up
Our fundraiser goods will be delivered on Monday, November 6th. Pickup will be from 4pm-6pm. Please make it a priority to be there or arrange for someone else to pick up your items. We do not have room to store extra items, especially the frozen items. Delivery will be in the cafeteria, in the back door. These doors are behind the school, close to the preschool playground. Thank you so much for your help with this! PTO
Veteran's Day Program
Our music teacher, Mrs. Benischek, along with our 4th grade students, have been working hard on their Veteran's Day music program. Students will be performing on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10:00 am sharp in Star Elementary's gym. We encourage family, friends, and Veterans to attend and celebrate those who give and have given so much to our country.
Food Drive for Thanksgiving
Star Elementary's Student Council will be holding a food drive to help fill the needs of families this Thanksgiving. Classroom teachers have sent out additional information. We will begin collecting food with November 10 being the cut-off date.

PE Newsletter
Coach Kendall's October Newsletter is attached. It outlines the life skills, movement skills, and learning targets students have worked on in PE for the month.
Attendance and Tardiness
To ensure as much learning as possible occurs during the school day, students need to arrive on time and be in attendance for the entire school day. The first bell rings at 9:05 a.m. (9:20 a.m. on Wednesday Late Start) with teaching and learning starting right away. We know and understand some absences cannot be avoided. In those situations, we ask that you call the school office by 9:00 a.m.
Student Transportation
If you need assistance from the transportation department, click on the ticket and you will be directed to the West Ada Transportation Website. Here you can find the Transportation APP - Traversa Ride 360, Find My Stop, Bus Zones, and a link for submitting a HelpDesk Ticket. Use the HelpDesk Ticket to report behavior problems or bus incidents, find a route, report a late bus, the need for transportation, safety concerns, unlocated students, or an emergency.
PTO Meeting
PTO also needs volunteers. Contact PTO at mailto:starelementarypto@gmail.com

Understanding Grades
The standards-based grading system can be difficult to understand for many since this is often different than previous ways of grading. Follow the directions below to find district information to gain a better understanding of your child's grades.

REMINDERS
Morning Drop-off and Afternoon Pick-up
**Reminder - Please do not use the parking lot closest to the office for drop off and pick up. This lane is for busses only! Thank you.**
When dropping off your student in the morning, please use the drop-off lane in front of the school (in front of the new addition). Please pull all the way forward to drop your child off between the asphalt drive and the front of the drop-off lane. Students should have everything ready to go, otherwise our drop off lane will get backed up onto Star Road. If you want to walk your child up to the school doors, you will need to park in a parking space or across the street in the park. Please use crosswalks when walking your child across the street and parking lot.
When picking up your student at the end of the day, students and parents should have a prearranged and agreed upon location to meet. For the safety of our students the city of Star, ACHD, Ada County Sheriff’s Department and the school ask that we do not park on Star Road. There is a bike lane, and it is also a no parking zone. If you use the pick-up lane, you must pull all the way forward and remain in your car and your student will meet you at the curb. Traffic can get backed up all the way to State Street, so we must be diligent in following our procedures.
