PATRIOT PARENT POST
by Principal Kate Wyman
Welcome to the month of October. Our Patriots have settled in after Pumpkin Festival and are busy in their classrooms exploring new genres of books, collaborating with their peers during STEM labs and Reader's workshop, writing about their reading, developing their number sense and problem-solving skills, and much more!
During the month of October, we will be conducting our bus evacuation drill, fire safety drill, and practicing our lockdown drill, utilizing A.L.I.C.E protocol. A copy of the safety drill letter, received at registration, will be sent via Power Announcement later in the month. We ask for your cooperation in talking with your students about the importance of listening to their teacher's directions in an emergency event. We are required by law to conduct these safety drills to ensure our staff and students are prepared to respond during an emergency.
October is a very busy month with Red Ribbon Week and Bullying Prevention Month. Check out the calendar for all of the important happenings this month!
We are excited for you to have the opportunity to meet with your child(ren)'s teacher(s) in a few weeks on October 18 and 19. Please take a moment when you are here for Parent/Teacher conferences to complete the school survey (Every completed survey = chance to win a gift card!), visit the Lost & Found table, and visit the PTO giving tree. Thank you for your partnership. We look forward to seeing you at conferences!

OCTOBER - Book of the Month
When Inge Maria arrives on the tiny island of Bornholm in Denmark to live with her grandmother, she's not sure what to expect. Her grandmother is stern, the people on the island are strange, and children are supposed to be seen and not heard. But no matter how hard Inge tries to be good, mischief has a way of finding her. Could it be that a bit of mischief is exactly what Grandmother and the people of Bornholm need?"
