Macbeth Act 1 Scene 1
1971 Roman Polanski vs. 2006 Geoffry Wright
The Macbeth Play/Book vs. Roman Polanski/Geoffry Wright films
To the play both these films did use qoute by qoute, I'd say Both versions were pretty accurate to the book. But, my favorite of the two i'd say would be Roman Polanski's version of Macbeth. I thought that making the witches old was a good idea, that's what i pictured when i was reading, they were calm and wise. I also love the setting in a middle of a desert area, very mysterious like witches should be.
One Difference I noticed between these two films were the appreance of the witches.
In Roman Polanski's version the witches were old, In Wrights version the witches were Young. This is important because making the witches older gives them a more wise creepy vibe to them, While the younger witches gives a more reckless feel to them that doesn't fit in with Macbeth.
Another difference was the setting.
In Romans version of the film the setting was in the middle of a desert sort of setting, while Wrights was in a graveyard. Both these settings managed to add a layer of creepiness and mystery to the witches.
One similarity about these two films was the dialect.
This is important because they were quote by quote with the book, making the film easier to understand giving the book visuals to follow and understand the plot better.
