Week 10, Term 2

Principal's Message

As I sit and reflect on yet another challenging term I feel immensely grateful to have the support of our community. Thank you for being so understanding and patient with us when we’ve rallied around to find relievers for classes or when events have been cancelled. Our students have certainly shown the value of Explore and Courage this term and we’re in awe of the resilience many of our students are displaying.

I’d like to acknowledge the hard work of my staff too. It is a very difficult time for all educators at the moment as they try their best to provide a stable environment amongst the challenges that are thrown at them. Our students are very lucky to have staff that are so invested in their overall wellbeing as well as their education.

Today we farewell two staff members. Daniel McAuley will be starting his new role as a Learning Support Co-ordinator in Huntly next term and Drinda Jones is off to spend time with her family in Ireland for the remainder of this year. We wish them all the best and thank them for their commitment and dedication to Hautapu School.

A highlight for me this term was our Matariki Day. It filled my heart seeing our whaanau back in at school and celebrating our learning with us. A very special thank you to Dion Marchioni and his support crew for making this day possible.

Next term is looking actioned packed too! We’ve got AIMS Games, Year 7/8 Sports Camp, Year 5/6 Camp, Common Wealth Games Day, Waikato Science Fair, Speeches, Cross Country and preparation for Production to look forward to.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday with lots of time to recharge the batteries.

Class Certificates

Inter-Schools Tumbling Championships for 2022 on Sunday 3rd July

This is an optional annual participation event that we host for our students who enjoy competitions and demonstrating their skills to their parents. You have had some students from your school participate in this event. Each competitor earns points towards their schools overall total. This year our event was held at The Peak Sports Centre, Rotouna, Hamilton.

We had 100 competitors, over 20 schools from Hamilton, Cambridge and Bay of Plenty districts competing in five progressive divisions from beginner to advanced level. There were trophies awarded to the top three schools in each district for primary years 1-6, and the top three schools in all the districts combined for year 7 and over intermediate and colleges.

Winning schools will have trophies delivered this week by either the students or coaches and it would be great if this achievement could recognised at a school assembly at some point this year. Schools get to keep the trophy.

We are grateful for the opportunities to run programs at your school and look forward to the continued learning opportunities for students and progress!

Kind regards

Free Lambs Available for Rearing

Every year during spring we need to find homes for our surplus wether lambs. These lambs are very suitable for pet day animals and will be available in August and September.

They will come with an animal health guide to educate the kids on what illnesses to look out for.

We can collect them after pet day if they have nowhere to be kept long term.
