Big Game Tonight

Tonight's matchup will be with our rivals, the Belton, Pirates. Belton enters the game with a 5-3 record. The game will be likely be a capacity crowd at Ray-Pec High School. If you can't make the game, you can watch the game on Metro Sports TV as this is the game of the week. On another note, the girls will play at 5:30 before the boys.

More Than Basketball

Character development and giving back to the community are important characteristics of these Ray-Pec Panthers. The Panthers visited one of the communities retirement home, Foxwood Springs, and gave back to the citizens. The players actually took the time to make Christmas cards and sing Christmas carols. Needless to say, the boys were a huge hit for the citizens at Foxwood Springs.

Highlights of the Panthers

Brittney Bross a student at Ray-Pec has been following the Panthers this year. She's put together a video for our players and fans. Click below to watch the short video.

Our local newspaper has a talented photographer who's taken some outstanding pictures of our players. Take a look at the website for some of the best action shots of the Panthers. http://highlights-photography.com/f67860852

5th Place Finish

The Panthers suffered a tough loss to Kearney in the first round of the William Jewell Holiday Tournament. However, the loss sparked the Panthers to fight back and capture a 5th place trophy. In that fifth place game, Nick Janssen hit a 3 pointer with under a minute remaining to put the Panthers up 3 points and eventually come away with a 42-37 victory.

Update From the Future

8th Grade: Our 8th grade teams continue to improve. The "A" had a 5-1 coming out of Christmas before suffering 2 losses this week, one of those being in overtime. The "B" team, record just below .500, has had nearly every game come down to the last couple possessions.

9th Grade: Our "A" team got 2 wins this week and moved to 6-5. They are really playing well and look to win our 9th Grade Ray-Pec Tournament next week. The "B" team dropped a couple games this week and moved to 8-5 on the year.

10th grade: Our 10th grade teams stands with a record of .500. Many of these players help out the JV team too.

JV: The JV team has had a good season at 4-4. Tuesday night they had an impressive comeback on Ruskin. Ruskin had a 10 point lead early and our Panther kept fighting. The game came down to Nick Cook's free throws with seconds remaining and down 2 points. After making both free throw and forcing what looked to be overtime, Ruskin shattered our hopes when they hit a shot at the buzzer. We're really proud of our JV because they are showing noticeable improvement.
