The Buzz at Westbrook School
October 23, 2020
From the Principal's Office:
It is a privilege to be invited to join the Westbrook team while Dr. Vonder Haar is on leave. It has been a pleasure to sign into zoom lessons and observe teachers and students engaged in quality learning activities. I also appreciate the active support I see from parents working with teachers to maximize our current learning situation. Westbrook is a special place for young learners and I am committed to supporting teachers, students and parents while I am here.
Class lists have been developed in preparation for our next learning transition. Options A : Hybrid and Option B: Remote learning are the two learning environments that we have planned. Please refer to the Westbrook website for a detailed description of these options for each of our grade levels, Circle of Friends, Kindergarten and First Grade. Class assignments will be sent Monday, October 26, 2020.
The Westbrook PTO annual fundraiser is virtual this year. The creative leadership team is providing us an easy and fun way to support the PTO. Funds raised directly support students at Westbrook school. We are grateful for all that the PTO does to support our young learners. The flyer is found below. Please look at the options for participation and choose how you will support the Westbrook PTO.

Best wishes,
Susan Woodrow

Kids Corner Registration - Limited Space
Kids Corner Registration will open 8:00 am on Friday, October 30
The Kids Corner program will remain a safe supervised place for the remote learning portion of the child's school day in addition to some quiet activities and play time. On Monday, November 9, Kids Corner will have new hours for the morning session from 7:30 am - 11:30 am and the afternoon session from 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm to coincide with new in person learning times and remote learning times.
Registration for Kids’ Corner will open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30. Due to the requirement of fewer than 50 people in a space, there will be a limited number of spots available this year. The spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be completed in the Community Pass system, as in the past. Families will need to use a credit card to pay the registration fees online. (The weekly fees can be paid by check or through Community Pass.)
Please follow these instructions and information to register: Kids Corner Registration Information
District Meal Purchase Program
Dear District 57 community:
Our district is offering a purchase meal program for all of our families during remote learning. Quest Food Management Services has re-opened the kitchen and has made modifications to the program to ensure safe serving. The menu has been modified and will include pre-packed meals for distribution for each school in District 57. Cold entrees will be offered; you will also have the choice to pre order a la carte items.
Pre- Ordering with My Meal Order
Quest has made modifications to ensure your meal is served in the safest and freshest way possible. Because meals will be primarily served in a remote environment, the District is using an online ordering system (My Meal Order). Below are the steps for ordering weekly A la carte options.
Anyone in our district will have the capability to order lunch and A la Carte items off of a new ordering platform.
• Please create an account with My Meal Order – Instruction attached. This will allow you to select the daily meals and/or a la carte options.
• Meal orders must be submitted by Thursday at Midnight for the next week.
• You will be required to create an account and transactions will happen at the point of order.
• It is highly recommended that the “low balance” notification is set up for your My Meal order account to ensure continuous food service. Insufficient funds will result in delayed ordering and may result in your order for the next week not being processed.
Meal Distribution
Meal Distribution will take place at Lincoln Middle School in D57 between 11:10-12:50pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week
• Orders for Tuesdays will be picked up Tuesday at Lincoln Middle School
• Orders for Thursday will be picked up Thursday at Lincoln Middle School
• Meals will be labeled with the student’s name and ID number
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Quest’s District Manager, Anthony Ferrazzuolo, at anthony@questfms.com or, Food Service Director at District 57. Donna Niesen at Donna.Niesen@questfms.com
