MS Aerospace Class Starts in 1 Week
Aerospace Education Excellence (AEX) Course Starts Feb 24th
It's Not Too Late to Registration for New Middle School Earth & Space Science Class!
This exciting course will run from February 24-May 18 (no class April 6 for Spring Break). Ms. Green's classes will meet on Wednesdays from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM on the NGHE Campus at North Lanier Baptist Church.
During this course, students will learn about and explore Earth & Space Science with fascinating topics such as:
- Layers of the Atmosphere
- Remote Sensing
- Lunar Phases
- Volcanoes (not the way you think!)
- and so much more!
Lessons are from institutions like NASA, Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security, US Geological Survey, several National Park Service organizations, and more!
At times, students will be asked to prepare for classes at home through reading and/or videos to allow for more hands-on learning time in class. Each 90-minute class will have fun and exciting activities and experiences to reinforce concepts provided. In-class quizzes will also happen on occasion.
Upon completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to earn an Aerospace Education Excellence award from the Civil Air Patrol.
The fee is $100/student and covers all materials for the course activities.
Class size is limited, so please RSVP below and pay Instructor Meg Green directly using the "click here to pay" button below.
About The Instructor
Meg Green is one of those rare "right-brain/left-brain" people NGHE is so blessed to have as an instructor. Last semester Meg taught the "R.I.S.E." (Readiness in Science Exploration) classes for middle schoolers at NGHE, and this semester is teaching "On Wings of Eagles: Study of Flight", "Paper Engineering" and "Drawing Currents: Intro to Circuitry" for middle and high school students.
Meg grew up with the passion of all things now referred to as STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). She studied a variety of STEAM subjects in high school and college which led to an IT career where she consulted across multiple disciplines and industries. From consulting she went on to lead global learning for various consulting divisions within IBM.
She approaches education for our kids from a top down perspective - knowing what the business world looks like and how it is evolving. Meg believes in the power of learning through doing, and to retain what has been learned you need to continue to build upon a skill over time. She also believes in the concept of enabling our kids through the learning process to develop their own ideas and passions on how they can personally touch society through a positive impact.
Watching Meg in the classroom, it is clear that God has called her back to her passions of science, engineering and aerospace technology (read: she loves Drones!). Meg is very excited to have the opportunity to share her love of learning and exploration with students through her science and engineering classes at NGHE, and now with her exciting new Middle School Aerospace course!
