Better Together

Families,

We were so happy to be able to have our Water Day finally, and it was a beautiful day! Thanks to all the volunteers that came out to help run stations and carry the many buckets of water! Also, the Mount Vernon Fire Department has been so understanding with the rescheduling. They seemed to enjoy spraying the kids and helping the kids dump water on my head. AJ Holzer completed 1001 minutes on Lexia over the summer, so he got to dump the big bucket with the firemen telling him to dump slowly! Ellis Leatherman, Caroline Biggerstaff, and Payton Carlson each had smaller buckets to dump for their great efforts on Lexia this summer.

Our staff has already started planning for next year, and are always looking for ways to make it better. The intentions are for students to have the incentive to encourage them to read each summer. Enjoy the pictures! There are more to come.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best wishes,

Christy Grandstaff

Thrive Kids

Week 2 of Thrive Kids focused on helping the students to Expect the best out of those around them! We want our leaders to look for ways to inspire others by expecting the best even when its hard! We practiced this skill within our workout that consisted of wall sit walks (legs!) and downward dog walks (shoulders!) plus some running. The students focused on encouraging those around them as they frequently had to wait for the person in front of them to go before they could continue!

The students are doing an excellent job and having SO much fun!
