May News
Kenneth J. Tice Elementary
Principal's Points!
Dear Tice Families,
Welcome to the month of May! We are almost finished with another school year and summer vacation will officially begin. It has been a tremendous blessing to serve you, your students and the community during the 16-17 school year. I look forward to seeing you all back in August!
This month is filled with campus events and assessments. Students in 3rd and 4th will take STAAR Reading and Math on May 8th-9th. Reading and Math re-testing will also take place on May 8th-9th. All of our fifth graders will take STAAR Science on May 10th. Students in grades PK-2 will also be assessed by district and campus assessments during the month of May. This is also a great time to schedule a conference with your child's teacher if you are concerned about their academic progress or have questions.
As we head into assessment season, I encourage you to begin each day by giving your child a positive affirmation, such as: you are smart; you are kind; you care about people; you are a great reader; etc. Positive Affirmations are positive phrases which you repeat to yourself or others to describe how you want to be or want them to be. I am a strong believer in teaching students about Positive Affirmations.
As always, thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you at our next event! This month we hope you join us for Relay for Life, Breakfast with the Best, Field and Fun Day and grade level promotion ceremonies. Come out and support the Tice students and staff that are working to connect with the community. It is imperative that we continue to develop a strong collaborative relationship in order to meet the educational needs of your child.
Wishing you a safe and relaxing summer!
