"Love First, Last, & Always"
Have you ever felt discouraged when your prayers seem to go unanswered? Have you ever wondered if God is really listening to you when you pray? In the Gospel this past Sunday, Jesus teaches us to pray with patience and perseverance (Luke 18: 1-8).
God not only hears our prayers, but He answers them, too. Listen to Catholic speaker Ken Yasinski’s Catholic Minute Youtube clip on prayer. Ken points us to Scripture for our answer. In Matthew 7:7, Jesus says “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds, and the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Jesus urges us to ask! And why would he tell us to knock, unless somebody is home? God indeed hears our prayers!
But does God answer our prayers? He absolutely does, but perhaps not how we ask for or how we expect. How God answers our prayers may be unexpected and even surprising, but God’s answers are always better than we could have imagined. God cares for us and will not abandon us. His response to our prayers will be “yes”, “not yet”, or “I have something better in mind”. There is no such thing as an unanswered prayer.
