Hitting Reset
As we head back to school, this article below on Hitting Reset really resonated with me.
Yes, it's technically the middle of the school year, but in schools we have every opportunity to "re-set" when we need to shift our own habits or practices that might not bring us the outcomes we want in our community or in our instruction.
The year isn't even half over yet, what will you be hitting re-set on this week?
MINDS (Teaching & Learning)
Reminder- The Glenview Way
I know that before break our schedules were crazy and we were all a little "off" with parent conferences, assessments, and special events.
However as we return this week, please remember that as part of the Glenview way, all teachers need to have daily schedules and teaching points up.
As we have discussed in our PD this is best practice for instruction and is a trauma informed practices.
I will be walking through classes this week and will be looking for:
- up to date clear schedules with all content areas
- teaching points with alignment to standards, year long plan, and
- SEL support (class points, teams, toolbox, SEL teaching points, etc.)
You can review the Glenview Way here:

New Year, New Bulletin Boards
If you have anything up from Summer, Halloween, Fall PBIS/Toolbox, a unit you haven't taught in months, it's time for a change as old bulletin boards become like wallpaper.
The purpose of bulletin boards are to show what you are learning as a classroom community and inspire your community to learn from your class or your instructional practices. Please do not put up 30 of the same math worksheet.
If you need help, let me or Samara know....I know you are all doing amazing stuff in your classrooms, so let's share with our school and help our learning environment stay fresh.
Black History Month- Beyond Heroes and Holidays
On a deeper level though, Black History month is an opportunity to think about the ways you communicate with your class about race, social justice, civil rights, and history throughout the year. Being part of our diverse school means that we can find teachable moments every day on a topic that impacts all of our lives in this country.
Here are some great lesson plans:
