We were SO impressed with all the candidate's efforts. Such amazing posters and what creative videos! I wish there were more seats for so many amazing 5th graders. Rest assured that there are ways for you to serve even if you didn't get elected.
What's for Lunch?
This past week in Social Skills we have put into practice all of the different things we have been learning and discussing about respect! I'm so proud of my students and I love seeing them put into practice what we are learning.
1st Grade - We learned what it means to be unique and how we can appreciate one another's similarities and differences. Each student decorated a puzzle piece that was uniquely theirs and next week we will be finishing them and putting our class puzzles together that will be beautiful and unique just like each class at Providence Hall.
2nd Grade - We were conflict detectives as we determined if a problem was a big problem in which we needed an adult's help or a small problem which we could handle on our own using skills such as breathe it out, move it out, or talk it out.
3rd Grade - We created a classroom "Respect Recipe." Students worked together to decide which "ingredients" were most important to create respect. We practiced perspective talking as we discussed why we all thought different "ingredients" should have different measurements attached to them. Next week, students will be making their own "Respect Recipes" in partners and continue to practice perspective talking as they share them with the class.
4th Grade - We learned about conflict resolution using the Tree of Choices. The Tree of Choices outlines how we identify a problem, name our emotions, and then make a choice on how to handle and resolve the conflict. Students began writing conflict resolution skits in groups. Next week, they will finish their skits and perform them in front of the class.
5th Grade - Students learned how to be respectful to themselves and others on social media and how being respectful helps them to be effective leaders. We played True of False with a variety of statements to help students understand the powerful and positive impact they can have in person and digitally.
Looking forward to another amazing week in Social Skills!
Three Cheers for our Jr. Squad
