Central High School Library

wonder. seek. create. wonder again.

All Students are Welcome

Central High's library is available to all students from 7 to 4 p.m. each school day. Students may use one of the library's 39 computers, check out books or just sit and study at one of our many study tables. Before and after school, students may use the library freely by just signing in at our front desk. During the school day, students are welcome to come to the library instead of study hall by bringing a pass from a classroom teacher.

6 YA Authors to Visit Central

Central students will have the opportunity to meet six young adult authors this school year in our library. Next up on our schedule is Rainbow Rowell, Omaha author of Attachments, Eleanor and Park and Fangirl. Through a cooperative program with other OPS high schools, students can meet authors via Skype and in person to ask questions about the authors' lives, their writing processes and their works. Rainbow Rowell will visit Central in person.

Before each author visit, Central Library will have a generous selection of books to check out to students -- i.e. 80 books by author Rainbow Rowell! Students should sign up with Mrs. Eilers to participate.

Other Library Activities

HOMEWORK HELP: Teachers are available in the four core subjects -- Math, English, Science and Social Studies -- for Homework Help in the library this year on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:10 to 4:00. Students don't need to sign up ahead of time -- just show up.

BOOK CLUB: Join us on January 14th during 7th period or after school to talk about author Rainbow Rowell's Eleanor and Park or Fangirl or whatever you happen to be reading these days! This year's book club selections will be picked from our visiting authors' publications. Even if you miss a meeting, but would still like to read this month's selection, swing by the library to check it out! You'll automatically be invited to join our next Skyping session with our book's author!
