2D Art
This semester-long course provides an introduction to the Visual Arts, specifically in the area of Design. Students will become familiar various two-dimensional art mediums and methods, such as drawing, painting, and design. Students will learn the basics of the elements and principles of design, explore art history, aesthetics and art criticism, and express ideas through original artworks.
3D Art
This semester-long course provides an introduction to the Visual Arts, specifically in the area of Sculpture. Students will become familiar various three-dimensional art mediums and methods, such as ceramics, paper mache, and wire sculpture. Students will learn the basics of the elements and principles of design, explore art history, aesthetics and art criticism, and express ideas through original artworks.
Advanced Art
This semester-long course is designed for the eighth grade student who has shown tremendous capability and potential in previous Art courses. This course is intended to prepare students for high school level Art courses, such as Pre-Ap Art at Vines, by challenging them to excel to higher levels of creative and technical skill in their artwork. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of art mediums, to explore art history, and to learn how to evaluate and appreciate the visual arts. Students enrolled in Advanced Art are expected to show dedication to assignments, to demonstrate creative thinking skills, and to push themselves to new levels of artistic achievement.
