Happy Homecoming!
Message from Dr. Jones
Happy Homecoming!
This time of year is truly special, as we witness our students' enthusiasm for spirit week, look forward to the upcoming football game, and enjoy the creative hallway decorations within our school. We extend a warm invitation to all parents and students to join in the Homecoming festivities. For specific details, please refer to the schedule below and the attached flyer.
In addition to our Homecoming celebrations, we'd like to draw your attention to important information about Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conferences are valuable opportunities for you to connect with your student's teachers and gain insights into their progress. Please take a moment to sign up for conference slots with your student's teachers.
As a reminder, there will be no school on Friday, September 22nd, but we will be hosting the Homecoming game that evening. We encourage everyone to come and support our team!
We also want to emphasize the importance of arriving at school on time and being in class promptly when the bell rings.
To help keep everyone informed, we regularly send out Sunday announcements every week and a Parent Newsletter bi-weekly. Starting this week, the newsletters will be accessible on the school website for your convenience if you're not receiving the updates.
Thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring a successful school year for our students.
Warm regards,
Dr. Keith Jones, Principal

Parent Teacher Conferences
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES OCTOBER 4TH AND 5TH
Registration is now open for Northtown's parent-teacher conferences to be held on Tuesday, October 3rd from 4pm to 7pm and October 4th 4pm to 7pm. We will offer, in-person, virtual (Microsoft Teams), or phone conferences. Conferences are by appointment only. Families must sign up for a 10-minute time slot to meet with the individual teachers that they most want or need to meet. We know there are not enough slots for teachers to meet with every family, but we encourage you to reach out to teachers at any time through e-mail.
Please use the link below to sign up for one 10 minute time slot per teacher or counselor. Use your student's schedule in PowerSchool to identify the teachers/classes you most want to conference with. With a limited number of slots available, please only reach out to teachers you have specific questions for. If there are no other slots available, please know that you can always contact the teacher directly to set up a phone or Teams call for another time.
PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR STUDENT'S SCHEDULE TO ENSURE YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR A TEACHER YOUR STUDENT HAS.

NKC Schools Cell phone policy & Procedure
At North Kansas City Schools, our goal is to create a warm, welcoming, safe, academically focused environment for students. Student cell phone use at school has been identified as a tremendous distraction to meeting that goal. And, with the deployment of district-issued MacBooks, cell phones are unnecessary for academics throughout the school day. The building practice outlined on the attachment below has been developed in coordination with NKC Board Policy JG-R- Technology Misconduct. You may also reference Board of Education Policies EHB – Technology Usage and EHBA – Use of Personal Electronic Devices for Instructional Purposes for more information.
Please see the UPDATED NKC Schools Cell Phone Policy and Procedure below.

Senior - MCV Vaccine
Parents if you have received the following messgae it is because we have not yet received a record of your student receiving their MCV (meningococcal conjugate) shot.
The state of Missouri requires that all 12th graders have two doses of MCV, unless the first dose was administered at 16 years of age or older, in which case only one dose is required. AT LEAST ONE DOSE MUST BE GIVEN ON OR AFTER 16 YEARS OF AGE. Local health departments are OPEN and taking appointments or you may also schedule an appointment with your doctor. Please make sure you are up to date by the first day of school, August 22nd, or you will be excluded from school until we have a record of receiving immunization provided. You may email or drop off a copy of your shot record to the school nurses. Please call with any questions or concerns.
