All Things Baker!
I am so excited for the start of our Raise Craze fundraiser and Kindness Campaign! The kiddos are working hard thinking of ways to serve the community, Baker, and their families with some very interesting and creative acts of kindness. Our hope is to not only have a short campaign of kindness but to carry that mission throughout our lives! While we may fall short because we are all human, the more important part, as far as I am concerned, is to keep our eyes on the goal. Keep striving to lead with kindness and grace in our interactions.
I cannot tell you how often I am touched and humbled by the selfless acts of our students at Baker. They teach me everyday to be a better person, a kind person, a thoughtful person, an empathetic person. I challenge us all, as we go through our week, to take the example of the fabulous students at Baker and be thoughtful, be empathetic, and be patient with each other!
As always, thank you all for your support and at Baker Elementary we believe In a World Where You Can Be Anything . . . Be Kind!
Yearbook Cover Art Competition!
Below is the information for the yearbook art cover competition! We are very excited to see what creative things our students will come up with. If your student needs a paper copy of the attachment there are paper copies outside of Mrs. Sakakini's room (417). The due date for all Yearbook Cover submissions is October 18th.
All the rest of the information you need is located in the attachment.
Raise Craze Update!
We are into heading into our first full week of our kindness-focused fundraiser, Raise Craze! Students ask friends and family for donations via the online platform while paying it forward serving others. They have been learning different ways to show kindness with the hope that the attitude of kindness continues well beyond the two-week fundraiser! We love that the students are able to spend time serving, not selling!
There is still plenty of time to register: my.raisecraze.com/ANGX2AW

School-Wide Service Projects:
We are supporting two local organizations with our school-wide projects, Hugs Cafe and Streetside Showers. Your children will be able to select these as Acts of Kindness if they choose. We have collection bins in the main hallway at school.
- Hugs Cafe - Donate Hershey's HUGS, Grape JAM, or Ziploc FREEZER bags
- Streetside Showers - Donate TRAVEL SIZE deodorant, shaving cream, or Gold Bond powder, or NEW washcloths
Please make sure Acts of Kindness are checked off as they are completed. Classes have the opportunity to earn a Shine Bright with Kindness neon dress up day for logging 50 AOKs and a Tidal Wave of Kindness luau dress up day for logging 100 AOKs, so please have options ready! Students find out each day if their class has earned the chance to dress up the following day. These dress up days allow students to celebrate how great they feel showing kindness and also encourage others to reach the same goals! But remember, only those logged AOKs will count.
We would love to show how our students choose to serve others! Post pictures of their AOKs to the Baker Elementary Raise Craze page on Facebook so we can all enjoy the kindness together!

Helping Kids Navigate in a Social Media Jungle!
Following recent town hall meetings, parents have expressed interest in a monthly “roundtable” forum to learn and share, working together in the complicated journey of parenting. Parents-R- Partners (PRP) is a no-cost, open, safe place to discuss real-life topics that impact our children, our schools, and our families. We are blessed to have three local family counseling professionals who will offer their expertise in brief presentations/ video vignettes on pertinent topics and open discussion, giving practical helpful solutions. There will be different and relevant topics each month.
