Thursday Updates

Dear Galvin Families,

Every Thursday (occasionally it's a Friday) we send out a weekly update and reminder of any events in the upcoming week(s) at The Galvin. Below are next week's upcoming events.

GMS 5th Annual Cultural Heritage Night

GMS's 5th Annual Cultural Heritage Night is tonight, Thursday October 17, 2019 from 6pm-8pm.

We hope that you will join us for this wonderful evening dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the many cultures within our school and community. #CHN is a school wide event.

We will be showcasing performances (dance, music, and singing), have a tasting of foods from around the world, and offer other activities for families to participate in.

Please come out and help make this event another resounding success.

STEAM Week

STEAM Week is next week, October 21-25 and many great learning experiences await Canton Public School students. Please see the attached flyer from the CPS Central Office highlighting STEAM Week events.

GMS CAPT THANK YOU LETTER

THANK YOU from the Galvin CAPT (Canton Association for Parents & Teachers). Our annual "FIT4FUND$" fundraiser was a huge success raising $35,921! Thanks to the combined efforts of students collecting donations, and with faculty and family support, CAPT is now able to fund technology, student programming, guest speakers, field trip transportation and other enrichment opportunities for all grades this current school year!

On a beautiful sunny fall day Tuesday, our students enjoyed the activities of biking, walking, flag football, volleyball, basketball, roller-blading, skate-boarding, and tug-of-war. The Stoughton YMCA also joined us and offered an interactive activity for each grade. It was great to see the smiles on the students’ faces throughout the day! We will wrap up this fun event with raffle prizes, cash prizes, movie passes and homework passes being announced on Friday during lunch periods!

Many Galvin parents, school staff, and people from the community made amazing contributions to make this year successful. Working together, we will continue to maintain and enhance offerings for the students. Our students are worth it, and we thank all who contributed.

A strong school community builds a strong school. CAPT meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7pm in the school library. We need your help! We welcome new and returning members and always welcome new ideas.

For more information, please "like" the Galvin Middle School Parents and Galvin Middle School CAPT Facebook pages. Thanks to all in making this a great year at the Galvin Middle School!

Early Dismissal

We realize that it may be necessary at times to dismiss your child from school. If this need occurs, please write a note in the morning stating the name of your child, grade, and time of dismissal. Your child should bring this note to the Guidance secretary, Lynn Piana, before school. This notice is posted in our daily attendance for the teachers. Children may then leave their class at the appropriate time and check out through the main office. All parents and guardians must come to the main office to pick up their children. This note in the morning also alleviates interrupting classes to page the student. Thank you.

Lost and Found

As the school year is moving along we are accumulating a large amount of lost and found! We have 2 large boxes in the atrium by the gym doors (1st floor). Please ask your children to take a look for any items they may be missing. We have jackets, sweatshirts, lunchboxes, water bottles, sneakers etc.

School Committee Meeting

The Canton School Committee will be meeting Thursday, October 24th. The meetings are held in the Canton High School Learning Lab from 7:00 - 9:00PM.
