Hooch Happenings
September 16, 2022
Todd's Tidbits
Hooch Community,
Thank you to our parents who were able to attend our Curriculum Nights!! I was surprised that, with the past few years being very disruptive for this annual event, we would have fewer than 500 parents participate.
The admin team has already begun discussing if the format to the evenings has run its course and if we should possibly move towards a meet and greet on our Info Day during our pre-planning weeks. We would then provide virtual options to the community in September to introduce the course and curriculum of study. There have been no formal decisions made yet, but we have ideas being thrown around.
Other than that, we continue to have great days at the Hooch and thank you all for your continued to support in guiding your students to make great decisions!
All the best,
Dr. Mike Todd
Principal
Showing up Matters for R.E.A.L.
Parents and Students! September is Attendance Awareness month, and we are excited to share our theme for this year.
Showing up to school on a daily basis provides the opportunity to:
● Build Routines
● Increase Engagement
● Provide Access to resources
● Support Learning
During the month of September, we will highlight ways we can support each other in making sure students are on time, present and ready to learn.

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. According to the CDC, suicide is among the leading causes of death for people ages 10-66 and is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 10-14.
The counseling team has created a bulletin board outside of the counseling office to help raise awareness for our students. We will also be making announcements next week and passing out text for help materials during the club fair to remind students of their resources. In the last week of the month, the counseling team will present the district mandated Signs of Suicide lesson to all 9th grade students. Feel free to contact your student's counselor with any questions about this month's events.
Despite being a leading cause of death, suicide is preventable. We encourage our students and families to participate in Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. The awareness generated this month has the potential to have an enormous impact on our school community, even the chance to save a life. Thank you for supporting this initiative and continuing the conversation at home with your students.
