Happy, Healthy Thanksgiving to our HES Family!
November Fourth Grade Student Ambassadors "Responsible"
Each month the Student Ambassadors complete a community service garden project with Mr. Weimer, our Science Teacher and Courtyard Garden Coordinator. We were lucky to have great weather in order to focus our work outside. As part of the ambassador's focus, they prepared the raised garden beds by cleaning, raking, and weeding to get ready for our future projects. In addition to cleaning, they also used recycled bricks to plan and create designated areas to plant 30 Paper White Bulbs.
Congratulations to our November 4th Grade Student Ambassadors!

Grade 2 Opinion Writing: Author Study of Tomie dePaola
"Second graders have spent the past month studying the author/illustrator Tomie dePaola for their Project Based Learning (PBL). We have learned many facts about this amazing man and studied his style of writing. We learned he lived in New Hampshire until his death this year, and that many of his book ideas are from his childhood. Many of his books have repeating characters that are members of his family.
One of his most well known books is Strega Nona, which was one of our favorites! After studying multiple different dePaola books students had to choose their favorite one. The culminating project for this study was a book review. They had to support their opinion with reasons and then give a recommendation. Finally, students illustrated a book cover to match their book review. We loved sharing our book reviews with Mrs. Oldach and other second grade classes through Google Meet!"
Grade 4 Playwrights: Alternate Endings to "Because of WInn Dixie"
Grade 3 Project Based Learning: Disney " If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It!"
"The 3rd-grade students are making roller coasters to accompany their Project Based Learning model theme parks. This interdisciplinary unit is working with our science teacher, Mr. Weimer, studying forces of motion. "
Kindergarten ABC Boot Camp Fashion Show ... The Tradition Continues !
"The Kindergarten Students in Mrs. Tobojka and Mrs. Morris's class had an Alphabet Fashion Show on Thursday, June 19th. Each student chose their favorite letter of the alphabet and made a letter sign to wear on the runway!!! What a fun way to celebrate learning and mastering the letters of the alphabet.".
With our COVID protocols in place, our creative staff continue to ensure that the students continue to enjoy HES traditions that create everlasting memories for our young students. Here is one example of how Mrs. Tobojka's class has adapted the fabulous ABC Boot Camp Fashion Show to a socially distanced celebration to Madonna's "Vogue".
