Our Smore will provide counseling updates from both Elementary buildings.
Lower Elementary Updates: Ashley Phelps
Hi Little Eagle Families!!
As we move into February I will be visiting all classrooms Pk-2nd and sharing a lesson with students on treating others as well as ourselves with kindness and respect. We will discuss ways that we can do this and how they already are! We will be creating a building wide act of kindness project that I will be delivering to the Brooklyn Living Center to put a smile on seniors faces. Stay tuned for the finished project.
Character Strong
February character trait of the month is Honesty. See below for more ways to connect what students are learning at school to discussions at home.
As always, feel free to reach out with questions, resource needs and anything else I may be of support. You can reach me by email: ashley.phelps@myeagles.org or by calling 517-769-8557, feel free to leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I am available.
Family Connection
In February we celebrate kindness! What ways can you show kindness to your family, friends AND yourself this month?!
Upper Elementary Updates: Krista Schatzle
February is Here!
January flew by as we were busy learning about conflict resolution. I met with all the classes and taught various ways to handle conflict peacefully and how to use I feel.... sentences to help communicate when struggling with a conflict. The students were very receptive and focused throughout the lessons. The sixth grade students had a lesson on tolerance and how we are all alike in different ways.
Once a month from January-June, I will be working with the 6th grade classes on career exploration. We will be working on various activities, such as Interest Inventories, Learning Style Inventories, the Xello program (career exploration) and learning about different careers, trades and how to achieve the job they desire.
We have Career Day coming to CES and CUES in April. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to talk about their career and what it took to be eligible for that said job. The format is four 25 minute sessions. The students rotate to four different sessions. Please fill out the Career Day form if you are willing and interested in presenting.
As always we focus on Character Strong at CUES. This months character of focus is Honesty!
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns -krista.schatzle@myeagles.org or 592-2181.
