Year 10 Work Experience
We are holding a Work Experience Parents Information Evening on Wednesday 6th December 2023 in the Hall at 6.30pm.
This will be a short presentation and a Q&A at the end.
If you are able to car share with other parents you know, it would be appreciated, as the car park was very congested last year.
We look forward to seeing you there.
❄️ Christmas Concert ❄️
Christmas Jumper Day
The last day of term, Wednesday 20th December, will be a non-uniform day with the theme of Christmas jumpers to raise money for charity.
Wisepay is now open for donations. Alternatively, students can bring in cash on the day. The money will go towards a charity chosen by the majority of the students in the school, and will be announced nearer the time once the votes have been counted.
What's Been Happening This Week in Tutor Time?
This week in tutor time our students in Years 8 – 11 have been continuing to look at the 5 Ways to Wellbeing related to the elements of Give, Keep Active and Keep Learning.

The Year 7 students have continued with their Transition support programme which will run until February half term, this is to support them with all the changes they are currently facing.
Assemblies this week have been focused on supporting local charities – where students have be given information about different local charities and will then get the opportunity to vote for which charity(s) receives a donation from the school from the money raised from our annual Christmas jumper day on Wednesday 20th December.

Congratulations to Samuel Bercasio 10R for winning Art Work of the Week with his amazing still life oil painting, we loved the soft lighting and texture!

Year 11 Hair and Beauty
Year 11 Hair and Beauty students were lucky to have a Masterclass in 1940s / 1950s hair styling from Mrs Piper. Students were really engaged and happy with their exhibition work.
Hair and Beauty Club
The Vocational Area will be running a Hair and Beauty Club, Thursday lunchtimes in T10 for Year 9 students.
We will be running workshops and skill sets until February half term. Please contact Mr Nolan for more information.
Science Club Notice
There will be NO Science Club this Wednesday after school (6/12/23).
Science Club will be on the week after (13/12/23).
Science Revision Guides, Workbooks and Cards
Science revision resources are now available to purchase via Wisepay for GCSE and KS3 students. Once purchased please bring a printout of the receipt to Mrs Wade in the Science office between 8.30am and 12.30pm, Monday to Friday.
We feel that these resources will help to support your child’s GCSE Science studies and prepare them for their final exams. Thank you for your continued support.
Maths Clinic
Some of our Sixth Form students have kindly volunteered to run a Maths Clinic every break time in N33 from Monday 4th December.
If you are in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 and are stuck on your homework or a question, please come and see them, they will be glad to help. A member of staff will be present to supervise.

In order to help students with their independent revision, we have purchased workbooks for both English Language and English Literature.
They are £3.50 each (RRP £6.39 and £5.99) or £19.99 for a bundle of six books, covering reading, writing and all Literature texts.

PE Fixtures - w/c 4th December
Please Note:
- Fixtures are subject to change.
- Students must check the team sheets on the notice boards in PE to check team and confirm timings.
Unfortunately we are no longer able to have parents come into school to watch their children in sporting fixtures. We appreciate this is very disappointing for both students and parents, however, we must adhere to the stringent safeguarding guidance given to us. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Examination Invigilators Required
We are looking to create a pool of invigilators to work during the examination periods.
The task of the invigilation team is to assist the Examinations Officer to ensure the smooth running of all examinations, so that the students can perform as well as they are able.
The successful candidates will be discreet, able to respect confidentiality and work within a team. Punctuality, reliability and flexibility are essential.
We are looking for any-one who is able to offer their time throughout the year.
If you are interested in working within the school, assisting with this very important part of the student’s academic achievements, then please contact the Exams Office on 01245 440232 or exams@chelmer.essex.sch.uk as soon as possible.
The position currently pays £11.59 per hour.

Lead Invigilator - Required as soon as possible
£12.80 per hour
We are looking to recruit someone to lead a team of invigilators in implementing examination procedures and ensure the proper conduct of examination candidates.
