Be Kind, Work Hard, Be Brave
Note From Principal Graham
We are so excited we have our Veterans Day Celebration coming up next week. Please see the information below as we are asking our Veterans to come to join us for breakfast, a parade with their OGES student, and then a program. We want to be able to show them how appreciative we are for serving our country.
If you missed picture day on Thursday, we have make-up day coming soon. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 6th as our make-up picture day.
On Sunday we end daylight saving time. Don't forget to turn back your clocks one hour.
From the Health Room:
Since there is an increasing number of cases of the flu in the Midland area please have your child get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, eat healthy, and get exercise by being outdoors, if possible.
If your child has a fever do not give them medicine and send them to school. The protocol is for them to be fever free for 24 hours, without medication, to return to school.
We are just trying to minimize the spread of illness and protect everyone. If your child is diagnosed with the flu please contact the health room.
Thank you,
Mrs. Becker RN, CSN
Student Flu Clinic Nov. 14
Oak Grove Elementary School has partnered with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to make flu vaccinations available to your child on Monday, November 14, 2022.
There will be no cost to you for this optional flu shot or nasal spray. If applicable, payment from your insurer or Medicaid may be made to DHEC on your behalf. You will note that the form asks for that information.
If you have not already had your child vaccinated this year and are interested in getting your child vaccinated at school:
Go to http://www.scdhec.gov/slvcconsent using your smart telephone, computer, or tablet and enter 13201009 as your validation code. [Please register only students attending OGES with this school code. Students attending other schools will need to be registered with their school’s code.]
Complete the online parent consent form and submit it to DHEC.
The online consent closes on November 7, 2022, at midnight. You will not be able to register your student once the online consent closes.
If your child is under the age of 9, he/she may need to get a second flu shot in order to receive the best protection. DHEC will notify you if your child will need a second flu shot.
If you decide not to participate in our vaccination clinic but are interested in your child getting the vaccine, we encourage you to contact your child’s healthcare provider or health department.
If, after you submit the online Parent Consent Form, there are any changes in your child’s health or you decide you no longer want your child to receive the flu shot at school, please contact the DHEC Regional Immunization Office at 803-602-2073 before the scheduled vaccination clinic.
Thank you for all that you do at home to keep our students healthy and ready to learn.
If you have any questions about the flu clinic, please call the district’s nursing and health services director at 803-821-3794.

Reporting COVID
Dear Lexington District One Families:
Lexington District One students and staff continue to learn, work and live with COVID-19 with minimal disruptions. Our schools are operating normally, and DHEC no longer requires close contacts to quarantine.
Please remember that students who are sick with COVID-19 or test positive must continue to isolate, meaning they must stay at home from school.
We recently updated the way to report your student’s COVID-19 positive test results for the 2022–23 school year.
All student reports of a positive COVID-19 test result will be completed through the COVID-19 report form found in PowerSchool Parent Portal. The previous Google form link is no longer accepting responses.
After logging on to Parent Portal, select ‘Forms’ in the navigation bar, then fill out and submit the “COVID-19 Reporting Form.” We will then email you further information on when your student may return to school and school-sponsored events.
