Principal's Message
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I hope you enjoyed your summer vacation and were able to avoid Covid. We have lots of exciting things planned for the 2022-23 school year! We are expanding our after school enrichment program and our WIN block to ensure every student receives instruction designed to meet their individual needs. We are also working hard to create a Henry Ford community that includes ALL of our families. For example, we are partnering with the PTA to organize fun activities that bring families together. In addition to the annual Fall Festival and Pasta Dinner, we will be hosting a Winter Concert, a Valentine's Ball, and other fun inclusive events!
Maze Day is this Thursday, August 11th from 9:00 - 11:00 and 3:00 - 5:00 on campus. Students learn which class they are assigned to and staff is there to answer questions and help with any missing registration pieces. We look forward to seeing you there! For those of you who can not attend, class rosters and packets will be made available on the first day of school.
School starts on Wednesday, August 17 at 8:15. Student supervision begins at 8:00, on the yard. This year, campus is open to families for morning drop-off. You are also invited to join us for school-wide announcements every Monday morning on the blacktop! Due to Covid, we ask that you do not follow students to their classroom. Once the bell rings, please leave campus. If you need to talk to your child's teacher, you are welcome to call, email or ClassDojo them any time and schedule an appointment if needed.
Henry Ford has a history of low teacher turnover (which is a very good thing), so we only have a few new staff members this year. Please join me in welcoming:
- Heather Harney, 2nd grade teacher
- Michelle Beauchmin, English Language Development Resource Teacher
- Roció Alegria, Bilingual, One Life Counselor

2022-23 COVID Protocols
This new school year, we will continue to follow several precautionary measures in order for all of us to stay safe while we learn together.
Redwood City School District (RCSD) is following recommendations from the San Mateo County Office of Education’s (SMCOE) COVID-19 Safe Schools Framework, which was developed for 202-223 in consultation with San Mateo County Health (SMCH), reflecting guidance for schools and districts including from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). You can find our District’s 2022-23 protocols at https://www.rcsdk8.net/our-stories-and-initiatives/2022-23-covid-protocols-in-rcsd-schools
I will continue to keep you updated and informed about any changes to our District’s protocols throughout the school year.

Students are automatically marked "Unexcused" in Power School until you notify the office to let them know that your child is out sick or has a doctor's appointment.
You can call the office at 650 482-2402, send a note or email our office staff: Shaunna Ingersoll: singersoll@rcsdk8.net or Lizette Vargas: lcvargas@rcsdk8.net
