What is Cerebral Palsy?
A condition marked by impaired muscle coordination (spastic paralysis) and/or other disabilities, typically caused by damage to the brain before or at birth
Is Cerebral Palsy a genetic disorder?
While brain injuries can cause cerebral palsy, it has been determined that malformations of the brain caused by genetic defects can lead to a child having cerebral palsy.
What are the symptoms of having Cerebral Palsy?
- Choking
- Difficulty grasping objects
- Difficulty swallowing
- Fatigue
- Inability to focus on objects
- Inability to hear
- Pain
Is there a cure?
There is NO cure for cerebral palsy. The goal of treatment is to help the person be as independent as possible.
