The Roderick Review
May 2020
May Announcements
Please remember that all work on the weekly lesson calendar is optional, there is no requirement for work completion, and no work will be graded during the school closure. Although we would prefer students to complete the assigned lessons and tasks to prevent regression, we know that families have different priorities during this time. If it's preferable for your family to pick and choose various lessons in the learning calendar for your child to work on each day, that strategy is supported by the WPS staff. We know that each student and family have different priorities during this time and we are here to support you in any way necessary.
The Roderick Staff have been hard at work to make modifications to end of year celebrations during the school closure. We are working to make adjustments to the 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony, DARE, and other end of year events in a virtual setting. The current 5th graders will have their Gym Show as 6th graders in December, 2020! It is important that all students feel a sense of pride, community, accomplishment, and are able to celebrate their success regardless of school closure.
I hope you all stay safe and healthy! I am looking forward to seeing your child(ren) at the Roderick Elementary School in the near future!
Sincerely,
Kevin Martes
Principal

Classroom Placement for the 2020-2021 School Year
Counselor’s Corner
May’s word of the month, and focus for schoolwide classroom lessons, is Teamwork. It is heartwarming to see the entire Wrentham Community come together as a team during this pandemic.
What is it? Teamwork is the collaborative effort of a group to achieve a common goal or to complete a task in the most effective and efficient way
Why is it important? Teamwork fosters creativity and learning. It helps build trust, teaches conflict resolution skills, and promotes communicating effectively with others.
What does it look like? An effective team sees the importance of everyone focused on the same goal. It’s like rowing a boat - everyone needs to be rowing in the same direction
