Batik
Batik come from Java and it means printing in wax. the decorating method is used in many asian countries. there are two different methods, the first method is designs on cloth, and textiles patterns on stones or walls ( such as javanese temples).
WHAT YOU NEED
When doing cloth patterns, you usually use:
- Material
- Frames (these help you to not tear the material)
- Wax
- Electrical wax pot (These heat and melt wax)
- Oil brushes
- Tjantings (these help you draw precise lines)
- A dye bath ( This is a container to allow the batik to stay still and flat)
- Cold water dyes
- A selection of soft pencils
- Masking tape
- Dress making pins
- Drawing pins
- Large saucepan
- Metal bucket
- Plastic buckets
- Wooden tongs
- Cleaning solvents
- Plastic pegs
- Teaspoons
