The Lebanese left there homeland because they were ruled by another land, and had few political freedoms. They also left because there were often religious conflicts and were dominated by the Muslims. They were also very poor. They came to Kansas because they wanted more economic opportunities, and were looking for good jobs. They were looking for religious freedom.


The Lebanese immigrants immigrated to Wichita, Kansas in 1895.


Many Lebanese settled in cities and became Peddlers because few jobs were available to new immigrants. Many Lebanese became good at it.
