The Official Newsletter of Global Impact Academy
Welcome to Global Impact Academy!
We are thrilled you have chosen to embark on this journey with us! The team and I conducted numerous interviews searching for TOP TALENT and we found it. The enthusiasm you all have exhibited regarding GIA's vision for a STEM education leads me to believe we will cultivate the school environment we all desire.
In preparation for the school year, we wanted to collect some information and put a few things on your radar. In this newsletter, you will find information about our instructional program and summer learning opportunities (school-based and district-wide). Also, make sure you scroll down and click the button to complete the GIA Staff Survey.
I hope you are as excited as we are about the the upcoming school year! I look forward to working with you and serving the community and the students of GIA.

Introduction to Design Thinking Professional Learning
The Global Impact Academy CORE Team is excited to offer an Introduction to Design Thinking!
GIA’s approach to teaching and learning is underpinned by the Design Thinking mindset. The five phases of the non-linear iterative process (Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test) used to stoke innovation and develop user-focused solutions will be applied to instructional planning and practices. Students will also use the process as they collaborate on interdisciplinary projects and develop solutions to the world’s problem.
The three-day introductory training will be facilitated by the GIA Core team using a blended model. Synchronous learning will consist of face-to-face meetings to engage new staff members in hands-on activities and design thinking experiences. Asynchronous learning will require staff members to examine design thinking literature and complete instructional modules.
Watch the video below for an overview of The Design Thinking Process. When you complete the GIA Staff Survey, you will be prompted to select one of the synchronous sessions.
Session 1: Tuesday, June 22nd - Thursday, June 24th
Session 2: Tuesday, July 13th - Thursday, July15th
