Camp Hosp
Every Hall is Home
What a start!
Houses
It is hard to believe that we have only had two days of school. Today your students took to a completely different schedule for "House Day" and they did it in stride. From the moment our doors opened 4th/5th graders (with no prompting) starting helping their younger housemates. Helping them to their class and seats, helping them unpack and leading the way. We literally had teachers tearing up at the sight (not me, I just have allergies) because it was such a beautiful thing. As a parent and educator is was incredible to watch. Word spread quickly and Superintendent, Dr. Waldrip, came back for his second visit in two days to see it for himself.
House meetings were also a tremendous success. We have houses starting cheers, chants, developing symbols and one student told me he wants his house to have a secret handshake. Their creativity is exploding at Hosp.
In specials they were learning movement dances and again the older students helped the younger and siblings were dancing with each other. You read that right.
I have been at this for 20 years and today was one of the best days of my career. It was truly a special day.
Dismissal
We were moving pretty well today and will continue to get better. The yellow/red carpool is still slower as we check and double check bus attendance before letting them go. Thank you for your patience as we learn our students and dismissal process.
Next Week
No visitors. Students are still taking quite a long time for lunches. Lunches can sometimes get off schedule, we hope to have this running smoothly in the next few days.
2nd Annual Curiosity Fair
I've had a few questions about the Curiosity Fair and yes we will start this up again soon. Look for information in the coming weeks.
Volunteers
Part of the changes at Hosp involve bringing in parents. We will also start this in the next few weeks. We can't wait to start this!
