    From the Principal

Thank you to everyone who came out on Monday night for Back to School Night! I saw so many students who were thrilled to be showing their parents around the school! We hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into some of the learning that happens during your child's school day.

You may have noticed a new date in the section above. Save the date for our first FEARson Trick or Treating event on Friday, October 14th. Our fabulous PTO has planning underway for what will surely be a Spooktacular good time!

    Enjoy your weekend,

    Kick-A-Thon

Each year, D303 participates in the Kick-A-Thon. This community wide event brings dance teams from East and North together to raise money for different organizations. This year, on Friday, October 7th, the dance team will partner with their community kickers as they complete 100 kicks to raise money to help fight cancer. The 2022 Kick-A-Thon beneficiaries are Collette's Crew, You are Stronger #HardyStrong, and Fox Valley Food for Health. Ferson Creek will be carrying a banner during the event, which is held in between the JV and Varsity Cross-town classic football game. To make a donation, or learn more about the beneficiaries, please visit the D303 Kick-A-Thon webstore page.

    Conferences

Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 6th from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday, October 7th from 8 a.m.- Noon. This is an opportunity for students, parents/guardians, and teachers to focus on setting meaningful goals. Teachers will be working with students to review their strengths and areas of improvement prior to the conference so that goals can be shared during your conference time. While this process may look differently across the building, our goal is that students are all involved in reflecting on their learning and areas for growth.

The conference scheduler in Pick-A-Time will open on September 23rd and will remain open until October 3rd. Specific directions regarding how to schedule your conference can be found here. These dates are set aside as a district for conferences, and we greatly value your collaboration. In the event that you are out of town on these dates, teachers can arrange a virtual conference through Zoom during these two days as well. Thank you for your partnership in your child's education.

    From Mrs. Ignoffo

    Dear Ferson Families:

Here are three things you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

    • Give your children a chance to choose their own books to read. The Bookfair is a great opportunity to do this!

    • Set a great example—let children see you read.

    • Have a collection of books in the home that you update to keep pace with your child’s changing interests and reading skills.

Our Online Literati Book Fair is now open. Please visit the website to browse and purchase books for your child(ren). You may also purchase digital gift cards for your child(ren) to use at the in-person book fair. The in-person portion of the book fair will begin on October 3rd in the LRC. Students will preview the book fair with their class during the week of October 3rd. Students may purchase books on October 3rd, 4th, & 5th or parents may purchase books for their child(ren) during parent-teacher conferences on October 6th. Remember, all purchases benefit Ferson Creek!

    Sincerely,

    Renee Ignoffo, LRC Media Specialist
