Save the Date - World Book Day 2016! Thursday 3rd March

We are looking forward to celebrating Book Day with lots of fun events to share our love of books and reading! Please look out for our Book Day overview next week which will outline all of these events in more detail!

Home Languages 2016

We are excited to start our Home Languages again next Tuesday morning from 09.00 - 09.30. We continue to look for volunteers to support and facilitate groups in the many language speakers we are fortunate to have here at BMS. If any parents would be interested and willing to volunteer to join us for these sessions which take place every second Tuesday, please contact Julietta Cavalli, our EAL Coordinator, for more details. julietta.cavalli@metropolitanschool.com

We are also looking to support our Home Language program further by asking for book donations of any children´s books that you and your family may no longer want to keep. If you have any books you would like to donate to support the Home Language Program please place these in the Home Language box next week at reception.

Student Council & Playground Buddies

This week our Student Council representatives have been carrying out interviews along with me for our new Playground Buddy roles. Students may be selected now for few training sessions in February so they know what the role involves, and then can start as Playground Buddies in March. A second group of students will have the opportunity to be trained in May for this role. We have been so impressed with our students during these interviews and are excited to introduce this new opportunity for our students!

Congratulations, Tobias in Grade 5!

Congratulations to Tobias in Grade 5 who is part of the Staats und Domchor Berlin choir that sang in the Philharmonie together with the philharmonic Orchestra.!

Our Playground Tree

As many of you will have noticed work has begun on removing the tree from our playground. There are a number of reasons why this is taking place, primarily for safety reasons, and today in school teachers spoke to students about this and shared a presentation. We explained that we are trying to improve our school environment and that we will be planting trees in the future. Our students have been very active and we look forward to putting some of their ideas into action!
