"CREATING A COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS"
From the desk of Mrs. Harrison
Because we all value learning in and of itself, and want the best for our children, our sense of community and collaboration sets us apart from other schools and other districts. That being said, we value and deeply respect our input from parents. At Brooks, we are blessed with such tremendous, positive parent involvement and collaboration, that we could not do the things we do were it not for our parents. Please let us know if we can assist you in any way, or answer any of your questions. As each family graces our doors, as each child steps over our threshold, my greatest wish as a Principal is that each Brooks child feels like he/she is stepping into a warm home, and always feels loved and welcomed!

Coweta Schools Effectiveness Evaluation - November 2016
Every five years, each school in Coweta County undergoes an internal review which is conducted by Central Office personnel, as well as other educators within the county. The process is linked to AdvancED's five standards, our accreditation, and allows us to improve our practices through reflection and best practices. Part of this process requires parent input. If you would, please take a moment to fill out the survey.
Many thanks! ~Mrs. Harrison

News from the Media Center - Mrs. Sherry Copeland
I would like to thank all those students, parents, and grandparents who visited our first book fair this year. It was the most successful book fair we have had since Brooks opened. Our total in cash profit and Scholastic Dollars was approximately $6000 combined. There were also over 200 books purchased for our teachers to add to their classroom libraries. This is amazing!! Thank you again for your support and we look forward to seeing you all in February for our spring bookfair.
October 27th is Read for the Record. This year’s story is The Bear Ate My Sandwich by Julia Sacone-Roach. If you would like to volunteer to read a class or classes, please contact me.
There have been some changes in the Accelerated Reader program. Many teachers have sent the new Home Connect link for parents to log in and monitor their child’s progress. If you did not receive this information, the new link is as follows:
https://hosted408.renlearn.com/51144/HomeConnect/
The user name and password is the same one your child uses to log in to take test. Hopefully this link will be helpful for parents.
I’m very excited about Brooks 3D printer and cannot wait to begin using it with our students. If you have never seen a 3D printer in action, feel free to stop by the media center for a demonstration. I have done lessons using tinkercad ( a design site) with all 5th grade classes and hope to get 4th grade started this week. I already have several student projects I cannot wait to print out.
I am still in need of a few volunteers to help run the circulation desk in the media center. If you are interested in volunteering a few hours a week, please email me at sherry.copeland@cowetaschools.net
Thank you for your continued support of Brooks Media Program.
