A look back
A full year...2019-2020
Dear Parents,
As you all know this spring we've faced unprecedented challenges. We were able to still continue supporting our students and provide for them a continued education. This was only possible with the Mercy of God, the hard work and dedication of the teachers, patience of the parents and the willingness of the students to want to learn.
A big THANK YOU to the Aqsa Staff who kept this going and allowed students to thrive even while being at home. Endless hours were put in- from Google Meets to Zoom sessions, emails, whats app messages and late night phone calls. Alhamdulilah we were able to finish off the year.
We want to take a moment to thank the parents for their patience with their children and the teachers. "With hardship comes ease" and we can testify to this after seeing the silver linings associated with Covid-19. Families were able to spend more time with each other and realize what a blessing Family Time can be.
It might have also put into perspective the work it entails to be an educator. Long hours go into prepping and preparing for a school day.
We can't forget the memories that were created throughout the beginning and midway through the year. Classroom instruction, Quran with Religion teachers, field trips, lunch time, tests, school assemblies and so much more. We ALSO did that together and we are thankful for those times.
The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you.—B. B. King
Senior Graduation: Class of 2020-Corona Style
8th Grade Graduation: Class of 2024- Corona Style
All praises are due to Allah who didn't allow the rain to stop our excitements. We were able to practice social distancing. Staff and guests came with masks and were seated 6ft apart from each other. Families were allotted 4 chairs per unit while other family members watched from their cars. Some brought umbrellas to shield the sun. Also bottles of ice cold water provided some alleviation from the heat. Lastly, we had bottles of hand sanitizer for anyone who needed some.
We had a lovely setup that included a stage with flowers, a balloon arch, a runway to walk down, corsages for the graduates, and party poppers to end the graduation festivities.
Many shared great speeches and words of wisdom. This included a Principal's address from MC, Ms Tammie Ismail, Valedictorian speech by Sadeen Yosef, Salutatorian speech by Jeanine Odeh, parent speech from, Sheikh Kifah , who left us with a great reminder (paraphrased) "Take with you your education but never forget the Holy, Quran Kareem." Lastly we passed out the Presidential Awards and the Board conferred the diplomas.
A special thank you to IdesignNPrint who provided a generous donation of gifting each Senior, 8th grader, 5th grader, and KG student with a complimentary tshirt. How amazing is that! Graduates also enjoyed a scrumptious slice of cake that included different flavors of red velvet, chocolate, yellow, carrot and carmel cakes, provided to us by Sweet House Bakery. Please support these businesses as they were able to honor our students! May Allah continue to provide a halal sustenance for them and our families both,. Ameen
