Masks, Front Doors and Connecting
Take Advantage of Play Time
Easing into the day truly sets children up for success. Play time before school settles their heart, mind, body and soul. Arriving on time also allows them to ease into their day with their peers. It prevents them from feeling rushed or having to play catch up.
If you drop your child off at school, thank you for doing so between 8:33am, when supervision and outdoor play begins, and before 8:45am.
At 8:45am, all exterior doors are locked and children are beginning their learning. Should you arrive after 8:45am, it is important that you and your child go to the front doors to be let in. As your child's entry door is closed and locked, they will not have access there. Please call the office at 780-998-3716 when you arrive at the front door so we can meet you and your child out front. Thank you for not ringing the bell as it rings throughout the school as well as in classrooms which disrupting learning. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us in the office. We are here to help.
Masks for Kindergarten to Grade 3
Your child will be receiving their masks soon. There was a misunderstanding with regards to who was to receive masks when they arrived in early September. God bless one of our moms who contacted the school for clarification as it prompted us to dig a little deeper...Your child's two Alberta Government issued masks are on their way to OLA. When they arrive, they will be distributed to the Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. Thank you for your patience, and partnership! Masks for Kindergarten to Grade 3 children continue to be optional and highly recommended.
Thank you!
We appreciate how challenging it is for you to keep your child at home when they experience symptoms, and keep them home until symptoms resolve. The impacts are far reaching and sometimes complicated. We also understand how much we want to cheat.
We thank you so much for following the Alberta Education guidelines to safeguard your child and family's health and safety, as well as the students and staff at OLA. Thank you for continuing to keep the lines of communication open with your child's teachers so that learning can continue in the areas of literacy and numeracy at home. To connect with your child's teacher, please email them. Feel free to call us at school at 780-998-3716 to leave a message for them or you can email them through the school website. Simply click here.
We are so grateful for your partnership, patience, commitment, love and engagement in these unprecedented times, for which there is no manual.
May we continue to offer each other prayers and Grace. May we continue to laugh and find joy throughout it all.

Establishing Your Child's Baseline
Many children have pre-existing conditions that will help your child's teacher and the OLA team navigate through symptoms. It is encouraged that if your child has allergies or other pre-existing conditions to have a Covid Test while the symptoms are present. Having a negative test during these symptoms establishes your child's baseline normal. Once a negative test is achieved, please connect with Mme Gravelle or Mrs. Weller at 780-998-3716.
